Hey! / Hola!

We are OSCAR (23 - Spanish/Australian) and VERITY (23 - Australian), a fun and hardworking couple.

After working and studying for most of our lives in Australia, we moved to Spain, leaving behind Australia's geographic isolation, to explore, discover, and meet new people here in Europe. We are an independent couple who love traveling, coffee, and food.

We wish to experience the true spirit of different countries, national cuisines, everyday lives, and customs as we believe that these kinds of experiences make traveling so fulfilling.

We both speak fluent English and Oscar also speaks Spanish (Native).

We are open to learning new skills and taking on new challenges.
We are hard-working, tidy, responsible and have a flexible timetable to best suit your needs.

We are looking to book WorkAway experiences throughout the next 6 months. While we currently have limited feedback, we are on our third WorkAway trip and have a few experiences booked for May/June so more feedback should be available shortly ;). Furthermore, we are happy to provide references from other professional/volunteer experiences if necessary.

Quais são suas habilidades?

We are both very organised, positive people with a can-do attitude. We love taking on new challenges and helping out others where we can. We are independent, respectful of others’ spaces, and able to take initiative.

- We have both lived independently for many years so are well-versed in home tasks such as CLEANING, ORGANISING, AND PLANNING.
- We have GARDENING experience (planting, watering, pruning, weeding, mulching, mowing, clearing, propagating) and have both maintained large gardens, orchards, vegetable patches, and pools.
- We have some experience in DIY PROJECTS/RENOVATION/HOME MAINTENANCE. Tasks completed include; painting, sanding, caulking, tiling, fencing, fixing irrigation systems, making garden beds, retaining walls, decks, etc.
- We have experience working with ANIMALS. Including walking and grooming large dogs and feeding chickens, pigs and donkeys.

VERITY
- Previous PROFESSIONAL ROLES include; barista and cafe all-rounder, senior kitchen hand, babysitter, creative childcare educator, receptionist, admin officer, corporate concierge, and clinical research start-up associate. I have a degree in BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE and are interested in learning about scientific and technological advancements
- I love COOKING and consider myself to be a great home chef. In addition to working various roles in commercial kitchens, I have also volunteered my services while traveling to San Sebastian in 2022 where I helped to prepare meals for a group of 40 hungry surfers. I enjoy learning about new recipes, as well as preparing meals to share with others.
- In 2020 I completed an internship at a not-for-profit where I WORKED WITH CHILDREN with complex physical and behavioural conditions. As part of this, I implemented exercise-physiology-based rehabilitation programs and coordinated one-on-one and group fitness sessions to help kids stay fit, enjoy sports, and have fun! I have also worked as a childcare assistant to coordinate stimulating arts and craft activities
- Growing up on a remote farm, we needed to be semi-self sufficient so I also have experience with 'handyman' type tasks and manual labour.
- I am currently a volunteer community leader for an organisation called Girl Gone International. With 2 million members worldwide, GGI aims to connect, represent, and empower women living outside their home country.

OSCAR
- Studied biotechnology and management at University. Previous PROFESSIONAL ROLES include; trampoline park monitor, working with children, waiter, retail assistant and lab technician.
- Resourceful with an analytic and problem-solving mindset.
- Particularly interested in learning and gaining experience in DIY and renovation work.

We love to learn new things and are not afraid of a bit of hard work!

Verity grew up on a remote grain farm in Western Australia before moving to the city (Perth) for university. Being a farm girl at heart, I love spending time outdoors and gardening. Food has also always been a passion of mine and I won a state-wide cooking competition at the age of 10! I enjoy trying new foods (and drinks) and learning how to prepare them at home.

Oscar was born in and grew up in Madrid but moved to Australia with his family at the age of 10 so is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. We met at university in 2018 and moved to Spain together in July 2023. While in Granada I am making the most of the mountains nearby and have taken up snowboarding which I love. I also enjoy spending time mountain biking, hiking, and running.

Together we love exploring vintage markets, bookstores, and coffee shops. While we are fun, sociable people we enjoy spending quiet time at home and amongst nature.

We are excited to use Workaway as a way to meet new people, explore new cultures and see new parts of the world, as well as help other people and give back to local communities.

We are NON-SMOKERS and have NO SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS, we both enjoy eating meat but are more than happy to accommodate a vegetarian diet if necessary.

We enjoy good company and laughter, sharing meals alongside a glass of wine/beer, and sharing stories about life experiences and travels.
