¡Buenos dias! I am Reese. I love Uruguay, and I have loved traveling in your country to build familiarity with the different parts of it as I work on bettering my Spanish. I grew up on a harvest farm, I have customer service and hospitality experience, and I have done several WorkAways before (I was traveling in a joint account at that time); I will provide those details below. I love quiet places and good human connections, and I would be thrilled if you would have me to work for you.

WORKAWAY
•In my first WorkAway in Carmelo, I was tasked in all sorts of general outdoor and grounds work.
•In my second WorkAway in Colonia Valdense, I helped my hosts a bit with the preparation of preservatives and marmalades, but primarily I was tasked with weeding around the delicate roots of saplings in order to give them respite from the more hardy surrounding grass roots.
•In my third WorkAway in Colonia del Sac, I worked with a partner to remove and replace the varnish on 27 wooden benches, and then I cleared crowded brush and helped to clean the natural pool as general beautification of the property.
•In my fourth WorkAway in La Paloma and Rocha, I helped with the room cleaning and laundry at my hosts’ resort before and after housesitting for them. During the housesitting, I performed assorted property tasks including mowing and weed-eating, more of the careful weeding around saplings, and revarnishing some outdoor wood fixtures.
•In my fifth WorkAway in Aigua, I completed beautification tasks from painting to carving trails as I helped my host to prepare his property for advertisement. I also did quite a bit of mulching in the many garden beds and around the fruit trees.
•In my sixth WorkAway in Montevideo, I assisted with various home remodelling projects, especially around concrete work in wall repair, and with cleaning and gluing between floor boards.
•In my seventh WorkAway in Cufré, I was in charge of the chickens, and helped at need with many parts of the work both in the garden and the kitchen.
•In my first, third, and fourth WorkAways, I was in charge of feeding cats and/or dogs. In my first WorkAway, I also fed and watered the ducks, chickens, geese, and rabbits; I made sure that the cow and sheep stayed watered as well; and I did a lot of excrement collection for tidiness and composting! I also collected excrement for my fifth host. I cared for my hosts’ pet sheep at my fourth stay. I worked in the garden for my first and fourth hosts.

•En mi segundo WorkAway en Colonia Valdense, ayudé a mis anfitriones con la preparación de conservas y mermeladas, pero principalmente me encargué de desherbar alrededor de las delicadas raíces de los árboles jóvenes para protegerlos de las raíces más resistentes del césped circundante.
•En mi tercer WorkAway en Colonia del Sac, trabajé con un compañero para quitar y volver a barnizar 27 bancos de madera, y luego despejé la maleza y ayudé a limpiar la piscina natural como parte del embellecimiento general de la propiedad.

BEFORE WORKAWAY / ANTES DE WORKAWAY
I grew up on a harvest farm and in a house that was being remodeled. I have extensive experience working under the direction of others, in projects that vary from construction, to felling trees and stockpiling their wood, a bit of planting and gardening, general yard work, limited general machine maintenance, and general animal care.

Although I am happy to conform to hosts' vegetarian or vegan diets, I do also have experience with meat if that is helpful to a host. In addition to helping skin multiple deer and raccoons growing up, I worked for a summer as a meat processor in a restaurant, where I separated smoked meat from the blood vessels and bones which were not to be served to customers. Here in Uruguay, I helped in the kitchen at my first and second stays, and I worked in a restaurant for a few months. I do not have any culinary gifts, but I can provide an able helping hand if that is helpful.

Furthermore, I worked two summers in hospitality, in both management and direct service, and am familiar with that space.

While my own proficiency in any of these areas is limited, I am familiar enough with the methods and demand involved that I make a long-suffering and quick-learning worker who responds effectively to project leader direction.

(Crecí en una granja agrícola y en una casa que estaba en remodelación. Tengo amplia experiencia trabajando bajo la dirección de otros, en proyectos que van desde la construcción hasta la tala de árboles y el almacenamiento de su madera, un poco de siembra y jardinería, trabajos generales de jardín, mantenimiento básico de maquinaria y cuidado general de animales. Si bien me adapto con gusto a las dietas vegetarianas o veganas de los anfitriones, también tengo experiencia con la carne si eso les resulta útil. Además de ayudar a despellejar varios venados y mapaches durante mi infancia, trabajé un verano como procesador de carne en un restaurante, donde separaba la carne ahumada de los vasos sanguíneos y los huesos que no se servían a los clientes. Aquí en Uruguay, ayudé en la cocina en mis dos primeras estancias y trabajé en un restaurante durante algunos meses. No tengo dotes culinarias, pero puedo echar una mano si es necesario. Además, trabajé dos veranos en el sector de la hostelería, tanto en gestión como en atención directa, y estoy familiarizado con ese ámbito. Si bien mi dominio de cualquiera de estas áreas es limitado, estoy lo suficientemente familiarizado con los métodos y las exigencias que implican como para ser un trabajador perseverante y con gran capacidad de aprendizaje, que responde eficazmente a las indicaciones del líder del proyecto.)


As an adolescent, I worked in a daycare with babies and toddlers. I assisted my sister in babysitting for older children. I also worked for three years in college as a writing and psychology tutor, along with teaching in adult education. So, I am comfortable in a teaching, training, or companion position with all ages.

(Durante mi adolescencia, trabajé en una guardería con bebés y niños pequeños. También ayudaba a mi hermana a cuidar niños mayores. Además, trabajé durante tres años en la universidad como tutora de escritura y psicología, y también impartí clases en educación para adultos. One of my primary objectives is to work toward Spanish fluency as I live with and help out my hosts. I began on Duolingo in March of 2025, and have been learning via la vida desde finales de Junio 2025. I have a good and ever growing vocabulary, I form decent (if halting) sentences and can carry a conversation, and my hearing comprehension (my weakest skill) is improving the more that I have the opportunity to engage in Spanish. (Uno de mis principales objetivos es alcanzar la fluidez en español mientras vivo con mis anfitriones y les ayudo. Comencé en Duolingo en marzo de 2025 y he estado aprendiendo a través de la vida desde finales de junio de 2025. Tengo un buen vocabulario que sigue creciendo, formo oraciones decentes (aunque con algunas vacilaciones) y puedo mantener una conversación, y mi comprensión auditiva (mi punto débil) está mejorando a medida que tengo más oportunidades de interactuar en español.)

I value quiet connection with nature and a life in harmony with it. I myself do not believe in the supernatural or the metaphysical, but I do practice meditation, energy and petition work, and the worship of hamadryads and natural spirits as exercises in the endemic praxis allegories of being. I value interacting with persons of diverse spiritual backgrounds for how I can take their lessons and employee those in my own practice of living. I appreciate good and unique art, particularly of music in various genres, and I enjoy intellectual stimulation in study and learning. I enjoy reading in the social sciences, in theoretical psychology in particular, and pursuing the questions of the philosophies of the self and what of our natural way of being we may have lost in the accretive succession of a hundred generations. I am also a big fan of organising anything into a functional system.
I have a degree in Psychology, my minor and professional experience is in Social Work and adult education. Before I decided to leave the States, my next step was to earn my next degree and get certified as a clinical therapist, and that is still my long-term goal (but it will be in a different country, perhaps in Uruguay). I have earned proficiency in writing and editing, even running the writing tutoring program at my university until I graduated. I love learning, I love reading, and I specialise in memory tactics so I make a good tutor. I'm working on finding some online freelance work in these areas, so I generally look for hosts with wifi in case I make a breakthrough while I'm traveling. That being said, I'm not attached to this pursuit and am very flexible about internet access.

Personalmente, no creo en lo sobrenatural ni en lo metafísico, pero sí practico la meditación, el trabajo con la energía y las peticiones, y la veneración de hamadríades y espíritus naturales como ejercicios de las alegorías praxis inherentes al ser. Valoro la interacción con personas de diversas tradiciones espirituales, pues me permite aprender de sus enseñanzas e incorporarlas a mi propia práctica vital. Tengo mi licecitura en Psicología, y mi experiencia profesional y mi especialización se centran en Trabajo Social y educación de adultos. Antes de decidirme a dejar Estados Unidos, mi siguiente paso era obtener mi siguiente titulación y certificarme como terapeuta clínica, y ese sigue siendo mi objetivo a largo plazo (aunque será en otro país, quizás en Uruguay). Tengo experiencia en redacción y edición, e incluso dirigí el programa de tutoría de escritura en mi universidad hasta mi graduación. Me encanta aprender, me encanta leer y me especializo en técnicas de memorización, por lo que soy una buena tutora. Estoy buscando trabajo freelance online en estas zonas, así que suelo buscar alojamientos con wifi por si surge algún problema mientras viajo. Dicho esto, no estoy apegado a esta actividad y soy muy flexible en cuanto al acceso a Internet.)
