Looking forward to meeting you there!!

We're Shungo and Nanae from Japan, a really friendly couple who have been dreaming of visiting the Netherlands for ages! We're super excited to get to know dutch cultures, lives, people, and everything through Workaway.

Our Background & Why Workaway:

We're born and raised in Japan(Tokyo & Osaka), and we actually had an amazing experience living in Vancouver, Canada, for two years, from 2022 to 2024. Now we're finally planning a trip to the Netherlands, which has always been a place we've longed to visit, we're really hoping to go beyond the usual tourist stuff and get to know the Dutch people and their way of life.

Our Love for Kids:

We both absolutely adore kids! Shungo has a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old nephew, plus a super cute 1-year-old niece. Nanae has a sweet 0-year-old nephew. We spend a lot of time looking after them and genuinely enjoy all the fun and energy they bring.

How We Can Help:

We're really open to helping out with all sorts of things and are keen to connect with the local community. We're the kind of people who make friends easily – we both built great social circles when we were in Canada, even starting from scratch! So, we're confident we can get along with anyone. Whatever you need help with, just let us know, we're happy to lend a hand and are always up for learning new things.

Our Language Skills:

We both speak English fluently, so everyday conversations won't be a problem at all. Japanese is our first language, of course! Shungo also knows a little bit of Spanish, and Nancy can speak a bit of Korean.

Our Interests:

Shungo is a huge fan of football (soccer) ! He's been playing since he was little and loves watching all the European matches. Nanae is really into art and loves spending her free time exploring museums. Considering our love for football and art, the Netherlands has always felt like a dream destination for us!

A Little Message to You:

We're so incredibly excited about the possibility of meeting you and your family in the Netherlands, a country we've dreamt of visiting for so long! Please feel totally comfortable asking us for anything you need – we're really eager to help out in any way we can and are always ready to try new things. And, if there's anything at all you'd like us to bring from Japan, just let us know!

I've been learning Dutch for 4 months now, but still at beginner level. I really want to be able to speak Dutch! Also I can teach Japanese, which is my mother tongue.

We're enthusiastic and willing to help in many ways! Here are some of our skills and strengths:

Childcare:
We have nephews&nieces ranging from 0-6 years old. We love kids and have some experience caring for young children. We're comfortable with being with them, playing, and entertaining.

Communication:
With our English skills and our friendly personalities, we can easily communicate with you and others. Shungo's basic Spanish and Nanae's basic Korean could also be useful in diverse environments.

House-related Help:
We're eager to assist with various tasks around the house, DIY, garden, or any projects you might have. Also, Shungo has some experience of helping gardening tasks of one of his best friends back in Japan, so that could be helpful as well.
