Hello, I'm Sarah, a 29-year-old French girl.
After several years of working too often behind a screen, I decided to reconnect with people "in real life", and question my relation to work. So I thought that taking a year off to mark my 30th birthday was probably the best idea!
Since August 2023, I've been living in Berlin to improve my German and work in a restaurant. For 2024 I'd like to give a more itinerant dimension to this sabbatical, so I've decided to register with Workaway!
I believe in the richness of human encounters, and that's mainly what motivates me for this sabbatical: getting off my beaten track, meeting new people whose lives are different from mine, learning from them about a way of life, a culture.

As far as I'm concerned, I love reading, nature (especially the mountains in summer), coffee, and sharing moments with other human beings in general (whether it's chatting, learning from each other, partying...).
When I travel, I love learning about the history of places and anecdotes from the past. History helps us to better understand the present.

I have a lot of energy and am always up for discovering new places, new people and new things to do!

Quais são suas habilidades?

Hospitality/restaurant work: having worked for a total of 3 and a half years in the restaurant industry as a waitress or dishwasher, I have experience in this area. I enjoy interacting with people and making sure they have a good time! :)

Communication: whether through my job in human resources, my experience in restaurants or the voluntary work I've done: communication, raising awareness and passing on information are areas I'm comfortable with.

Construction/creation: my experience in this field has been occasional, but I have taken part in workshops to create and assemble large sets (with an artistic dimension) for events.
I also did some woodworking on a workaway.
I've already used several types of "classic" tools and have a few DIY notions.

I've worked in a botanical garden, weeding and planting plants and trees.

I grew up with pets (cats, dogs, rodents, parrots...) until I was 18, so I know how to look after them.

French is my mother tongue, I have a good level of English, and I have an intermediate level of German. I am learning Spanish since January 2024 :)

I'm a quick learner, I'm curious, and I'm adaptable to all kinds of tasks, whether they're meticulous or more physical. I don't have a very creative mind, but I'd love to learn how to develop it!
