Hello!!! :)

I am Rosa, an enthusiastic travel lover with an open mind and who is willing to learn anything! I am from Spain, but I am currently living in Indiana, USA. I was hired in 2021 to teach Spanish to third graders and I couldn’t be happier here! I feel very lucky to have found awesome people that have helped me from the beginning in this adventure (finding a car, a place to live, and a long etcetera). This is my third year (and last) of my work permit Visa, but I just applied for a two more year extension, so I hopefully could stay here for a bit longer (fingers crossed). This country has given me appreciation, work recognition and endless opportunities of growth. I feel I’ve grown personally and professionally as I could have never imagined!

Teachers are busy people, but we are very lucky to have some nice vacations too :) My dream is to take advantage of that to keep traveling, meet new people, new cultures and learn from everything. I’ve traveled to many countries around Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, England, Scotland and Sweden (If I don’t forget anything) apart from obviously my own country). Since I’m here in the USA, I’ve been to some very nice cities: Chicago, New York, Nashville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Washington DC (my favorite). I can’t wait to keep adding places and experiences to my life!

I have never been a Workawayer but I think it would be a great way of spending my vacations, doing different and valuable things while meeting people and having fun. I take responsibilities very seriously and I am someone you can rely on. I’m very excited to start my Workaway journey!

Some of my skills are:

-Teaching: I’ve been a teacher for 11 years now, I’ve taught English (in Spain), Math, Science and Spanish to small kids, from 3 to 12 years old. Teaching is my job and passion. Although it could be rough at times, it’s what I’ve always wanted to be and I love seeing how I help little people grow and learn.

-Music: I have been a violinist since I was 8, I’ve played in many orchestras and was immersed in the distinguished and formal classical music world for many years. However, I haven’t played seriously for a while, and I am pretty rusty. If you ask me to do a concert for you I’ll get so nervous that my whole body will shake! At the moment I teach violin to a 6 year old and I am proud of her growth!

-Writing: I’ve been writing (in Spanish) for around 5 years now, and I absolutely love it! I would say it is my main hobby at the moment. I mostly write short stories, but I also have a novel that I started a while ago and I am planning on eventually going back to it! Me and 17 other authors just got a short stories anthology book published and I am very proud of it!

-Creativity: in general, I have many new ideas all the time! I like to try and do different things, sometimes I get bored with routine and I try to have my brain busy with new things!

My best skills:

I would say my best attribute is that I love to learn. At this point of my life I would really love to learn something completely different, like the skills to work on a farm or on a self-sufficient house, or anything related to taking care or be surrounded by animals. I will do my best in any task, I am hard working and like to do things properly. I have good character and an open mind, I consider myself an easy person to be with.

Although I could be shy at times, I love to be with people and have nice and interesting conversations. I also love people with a sense of humor. I laugh easily and love people with easy smiles and easy laughs :) I am fluent in English although not perfect, please excuse my mistakes!
