Hello! I’m Rory, I’m 28 and I’m from the UK - with family in Scotland and Ireland. I’m a positive person who loves to spend time in nature and is motivated by meeting new people and doing impactful work.

In April, after 7 years living in London, I moved to Spain with the goal of improving my Spanish and experiencing a new culture. Whilst in Spain I have travelled to many places, including doing the Camino de Santiago. My Spanish is now at a good level – and always improving!

Although I’m new to Workaway, I have a lot of experience as a volunteer – in the UK and around the world, including in Romania running a summer camp for children and teaching English in China.

In London I worked at a Design Agency helping large and small businesses improve their operations, become more sustainable and launch new products and services. I’d love to bring these skills to any Workaway I can be a part of!

I’m also a big lover of art (and paint portraits!), outdoor sports, learning about new cultures, learning languages and travelling.

I am really excited to be travelling to the Dominican Republic from September. It’s a place I have dreamed of visiting for a long time – to meet amazing people and experience the culture and natural beauty. I am looking to stay in the Dominican Republic from September up to December.

I am looking for a Workaway where I can be proactive in helping in anyway I can.

Here’s some of what I can help with:
- Language exchange and teaching English
- Help with business operations – including project management, online presence and social media
- Farm work – including harvesting
- General maintenance – including cleaning
- Bringing positivity e.g. welcoming guests
- Art creation – painting, sculpture
- Cooking – including for big groups

I'm also a Co-founder and Trustee of a mental wellbeing and suicide prevention charity in the UK. This has given me good experience setting up and managing charitable projects, organising teams and the admin involved in a charity - including bid writing.
