Hey there! Thank you for clicking on my page!

My name is Rich, I come from the UK/Denmark, I have lived in six different countries (Denmark, UK, Czechia, Germany, Austria, Taiwan) and am coming to the Philippines with the hopes of joining an interesting and exciting workaway project for 2-3 weeks! :)

A few quick points about me: I have been an architect for many years, mostly working with natural materials like clay and bamboo, and so I love design, sustainable living projects, graphic design and making things with my hands. I also love learning new languages. A few years ago, I changed from architecture to teaching English and German, and have been living and teaching in Taiwan since the summer of 2024, a career move which I have really loved. In my spare time, I also love making documentary films, having made films for an orphanage in Thailand, a buddhist learning centre in Taiwan (workaway host) and a Taiwanese aboriginal music group in the last few years since starting.

Overall, I would describe myself as a very social, curious, easy-going, empathetic and positive person.

I am a TEFL/TESOL Certified English teacher and have taught English to kids aged six to sixteen in an evening school environment for one year in Taiwan, as well as online to adults from around the world for over 800 hours. I have also taught German to many online students (around 100 hours), and can speak basic intermediate Danish and basic Mandarin, both of which I am currently still learning every day.

I have range of experiences, gathered from my professional and personal life, as well as from some previous workaways. My main skills I believe I can help you with include:

- video filming and editing
- English teaching
- German teaching
- general home renovation and maintenance
- natural building techniques (adobe, bamboo roofing, earthbags)
- hospitality / tourism

In the Philippines however, I am less interested to be involved with architectural and construction work (as I have done this so often at workaways in the past), but much more interested in helping with things like:
- gardening
- animal care
- teaching
- hospitality
- filming / editing :)
