Descrição

We are a married couple in our late forties. We have no children and are enjoying the freedom we have to travel.

We’ve travelled fairly extensively over the years and want to use Workaway to give something back to the many communities who have welcomed us across the world.

Our last trip to Africa was cut short because of the pandemic and we’d only just joined workaway. Our first and currently only workaway assignment has turned into a lifelong friendship with a community and school in rural Maasai lands in Kenya.

We are open to all kinds of experiences. We are both hardworking, willing to learn new skills and get stuck in.

We both have extensive experience working with people, we are passionate about delivering good service and we make friends quickly.

Quais são suas habilidades?

NICOLA
I am 45 years old and have travelled to many places with many places still on my list to visit.
I have worked in different industries over the years including assisting in managing a backpacker hostel in Hervey Bay Queensland Australia. Helping travellers feel at home, organising their onward travel along with preparation and planning for our tours to world heritage listed Fraser Island.
I am an experienced project manager and have helped a number of large organisations improvement their customer service. I love working with people and developing creative ways to ensure customers have the greatest experience.
My passion is cooking and baking and I spent 4 years operating my own successful cake business in the UK. I traded at local markets, sold wholesale to local businesses and developed an online business selling cakes by mail. I had a good presence online and social media and would love to share my learnings and experience with others. My husband and I spent some time in Zambia and Kenya helping school children with their studies.
I love to make new friends and learn about different cultures. I’m hard working and generally willing to try my hand at anything.
We are currently travelling in Central America and will be until April 2024

STEPHEN
I have experience working with the public and managing people in various retail-style roles and for the last 13 years have worked as a Probation Officer in the UK. This involves working with people from diverse backgrounds to effect change in thinking and behaviour, and to provide pathways away from a life of offending. The skill of this is in relating to people and finding effective ways to communicate with them to encourage change.
The job also involves written reports, and I have been sharing writing responsible on our travel blog (millsingabout.wordpress.com) with Nicola. I have functional IT skills. I am a hard worker and will be willing to turn my hand to any kind of work. I would love to learn new skills.
