I'm currently starting a few months break after finishing my studies. My first destination --> Poland! Later on, I'm aiming for Italy and France.

Hi everyone!

I’m Maria, a 25 year old girl who just finished her Bachelor studies in the Netherlands. I’m currently in Poland taking half-a-year break, to dedicate this time to learn new skills and gain knowledge about the topics I always wanted to explore but had lacked time or energy.

I would love to get involved in hands-on manual projects. I love working within a community and if its not there yet, I want to help building one. I’m definitely not an extrovert, but I deeply enjoy creating connections with people and hearing their stories. I find it important to have a space where people feel safe and their voice can be heard.

I believe both sides (host and the volunteer) can get a lot from the workaway experience itself. I have done Workaway three times in 2021/2022, and I’ve been missing the valuable exchange this website gives. That’s why I decided to get back to it, but this time with a more clear intention.

There are skills/knowledge I’d like to acquire throughout my workaway experience that will help me develop myself both personally and professionally. My main fields of interest include music, specifically drums, theatre/film, sailing, herbology, and community building.

I like to stay active and spend my time outside, especially since my type of studies and internships I have done requires mostly sitting indoors, in front of a monitor… unfortunately. I’m trying to find more ways to shape a career where I can move around and still apply my knowledge.

I want to level up my Italian to later on be able to permanently move there. My current level is A2, where I understand more than speak. My biggest struggle is grammar and flow in conversing. I also appreciate some French practice. It's on the similar level as my Italian but I also struggle with understanding. I can teach you Polish or English.
