Descrição

We are a family of four - Grey, Jess, Sylvie (6) and Cass (4) - travelling around Europe in our Motorhome, Ruby, from
July ‘23 - July ‘24. From Kent in England, we decided to take a break from work and school so we could see some beautiful places, be together as a family and hopefully remove ourselves from a fast paced consumerist culture and experience alternative ways of living and learning. We are particularly interested in farms, gardens and smallholdings. We have experience in growing, basic DIY and maintenance, and animals. We’re all quick learners, easy to get along with and always ready with a smile and a willing pair of hands.

As a family back home (although this is proving a little harder on the road!), we are committed to shopping seasonally and supporting our local farmers and growers. We chose to eat organically and are members of a community kitchen garden growing project.

I, Jess, am a florist, flower grower and last year co-founded a community interest company which helps growing projects set up composting systems, as well as building worm farms with schools made from local waste materials. I have a particular interest in food systems, regenerative agriculture and this year hope to gain knowledge and experience in the practical aspects of permaculture and small scale organic farming.

Grey is a director of an architectural lighting company where he is also a senior project manager, currently on a sabbatical. When he’s not busy organising the rest of us he is fascinated by psychology and the brain, always keen to learn new skills and enjoys delving into the history of the places we visit.

Sylvie and Cass attended a Steiner Kindergarten until we left England, which was mainly outdoor, play-based. Sylvie loves to listen to audio stories, draw and finger knit, while Cass loves to draw, build things and play with cars. They enjoy each others’ company but are very sociable so would love to hang out with other children, and are used to spending time with kids of all ages.

We’re very interested in all languages, and have had some wonderful conversions with the kids about the nuances of language, where languages come from, regional phrases, accents and dialect. We all find it really fascinating!

Both run own businesses, so able to take responsibility for tasks and run with them.
Have a background in project management.

Both assimilate into teams easily.
Both natural problem solvers who enjoy working things out.
