Hi! My name is Markéta and I’m a 23-year-old student from Prague, Czech Republic.

I really enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and getting to know different cultures, and of course, I never say no to trying local cuisine (although I generally prefer plant-based meals or sometimes fish/chicken over other kinds of meat) :) I have already had the chance to stay on farms in Spain, Austria, and Italy, including one experience at a horse ranch in the Czech mountains, which has assured me that Workaway is always worth packing a backpack for and trying something new, because it has always been fun and the memories are truly unforgettable.

Maybe sounding like a cliché, an important part of my life and kind of “life philosophy” are my studies at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, where I focus mostly on animals, sustainability, and rural development. Thanks to my studies, I have been so lucky to have the opportunity to explore the world not only through classes, but also to understand it better through practical experiences, such as one semester studying in Spain, practical training in Indonesia, or joining research and working with a local team and rangers in the Philippines.

As a “city girl” :) living in Prague, I am always happy to escape from the city to nature. Being around animals makes me especially happy, which I connect not only with my studies but also with my free time. And I’m also used to being around our cutest ones - children, as back home I work part-time as a babysitter :)

Besides studying and babysitting, I work remotely for a non-profit organization focused on supporting the mental health of people who care for others, such as nurses, educators, and those working with orphaned children, the elderly, or people with special needs-in short, people who help make the world a little better :)

I have no problem getting my hands dirty, and I’m always eager to learn new things, experience adventures, and meet new friends from all around the world :)

Since English is the key to meeting new people, I always like to learn a new words, practice speaking or help someone with english:) . Besides english it is always fun to try to speak some of the local language words or phrases.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Animal care – I love animals and have experience helping on farms and a horse ranch. I’m currently learning how to ride a horses and discovering how challenging but also amazing it can be. I’m always happy to feed, brush, cuddle, or clean up after animals:)

Childcare – I work as a babysitter back home and enjoy spending time with kids:)

Household help – I’m happy to help around the house with cleaning, organizing, and cooking simple meals (and I’m always open to learning new recipes, especially local meals! :))

I may not know everything, but I’m curious, open to learn, and not afraid to try new things. I love working with others and being part of a community or family.
