🌿 Hi there Workaway community! 🌿

I’m Katarina from Finland, the land of saunas and thousands of lakes. I’m a calm, empathetic and curious soul who loves mindful, meaningful travel – connecting with nature, people and projects that make a difference.

Along the way I’ve gained hands-on experience with healthy cooking and healing foods, gardening, caring for people and animals, managing guest experience and supporting community life. In the recent years I have immersed myself into the study of (social) psychology, trauma-sensitive yoga and integrative coaching. My current goal is to build my own business combining these interests!

Since 2022 I’ve been exploring alternative ways of living as a traveling nomad. I have stayed in several eco-communities, homesteads and retreats in SE Asia and Australia. These experiences taught me to adapt easily, work both independently and in groups, and value simple, down-to-earth living.

My biggest long-term dream is to create a retreat/community in nature, giving back some of the inspiration and hospitality I’ve received on my journey. Until then, I’m excited to keep learning, sharing and supporting projects that align with my values! 🌿My dream Workaway environment is close to nature and hopefully some water elements such as rivers, lakes or sea, animals, and people who enjoy lifting each other up.

This winter I am traveling in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy. Discovering local landscapes and hopefully making new inspiring connections with people!

I have acquired a variety of skills during my travels and employment, such as:

-Hospitality and receptionist tasks
-Gardening, regenerative farming & permaculture principles
-Simple building and painting tasks
-Pet sitting (dogs and cats)
-Healthy nutrition, meal creation & Ayurvedic/elemental diets
-Gentle somatics/yoga, therapeutic art and integrative coaching
-Looking after children/au pairing
-Project planning and NGO work
-Social media content creation, fundraising and (digital) marketing

My hobbies and interests include yoga, everything to do with water and swimming, hiking, photography and listening to podcasts or audio books (usually about true crime, as I´m a scorpio :D). Sometimes I like to do painting (especially acrylic pouring style) or other art activities. In winter I enjoy skiing. Always curious to learn about new things or try a new hobby!
