Hi! I’m Karla, a Mexican who is obsessed with culture exchanges.

I started slow traveling, backpacking and volunteering one year ago.

I have a master’s degree in Environment, Culture, and Society from the University of Edinburgh, specializing in Environmental Humanities. My background includes scientific communication, event organization, and hospitality (I organised a film festival for nine years!), and I currently work remotely as a translator for an agronomy journal.

I’m passionate about *dancing*, photography, video, literature, philosophy (especially Kierkegaard), and environmental issues. I also have experience caring for children (I volunteered at a daycare in Oregon, USA) and love animals (I cared for my beloved dog for 13 years).

🎓 Academic & Environmental Knowledge:
I hold a master’s degree in Environment, Culture, and Society from the University of Edinburgh, specializing in Environmental Humanities. I have a deep understanding of agriculture, sustainability, and climate change, along with strong research and communication skills. Before that, I studied my Bachelor's in Communications, which I studied in Oaxaca, México. The modules I enjoyed the most were those about Social Sciences and Humanities.

📢 Communication & Event Organization:
Worked four years in scientific outreach, helping translate complex environmental topics into engaging content. Spent nine years organizing an independent film festival, managing logistics and coordinating international guests.

🗣️ Languages & Teaching:
Native Spanish speaker, fluent in English.
Happy to teach Spanish or help improve language skills.
Can share basic Latin dance rhythms and vocal techniques for singing.

🎥 Creative & Outdoor Interests:
Passionate about photography and videography, especially portrait and landscape.
Love spending time outdoors, whether in rural areas or immersed in nature.

🐾 Animal Lover:
Cared for my beloved dog for thirteen years—I have a soft spot for pets!

👶 Childcare Experience:
Volunteered at a daycare near Portland, Oregon for six months, caring for children aged 3 months to 3 years. (I can provide a recommendation letter).
A challenging but deeply rewarding experience that taught me patience, adaptability, and the joy of working with kids.
