We are Josie and Hannes, two 22/23-year-old students from Germany, looking forward to spend 6 months in Canada.
For the past 3 years we have been studying and working towards our bachelor’s degree. (Hannes in Mechanical Engineering, Josie in Business Administration)
Although we both love our fields of study and the jobs we currently have, we find ourselves wanting to pause this life for a little while and explore the amazing Canadian countryside, experience life on a ranch or farm and an overall different way of living.
Josie:
In 2016 I had the amazing opportunity to spend 10 months in Victoria, BC for a high school exchange year, during which I learned what it is like to live in a host family, got a chance to improve my English and got to know the warmth & friendliness of Canadian people. Which makes it now even more thrilling to go back and share it with my boyfriend.
Since I was a little child, I have always loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Over the last couple of years, I have taken weekly lessons in western riding (focus on reining) and have always had different “horse partnerships” where I took care of horses (cleaning horse paddocks and stables, feeding, etc) and, in exchange, I got to ride and train them.
Hannes:
I am very much looking forward to doing some crafty outdoor projects. In Germany, I enjoy working on cars or working on the house and yard. Unfortunately, I rarely find time for this, which is why this trip should be a great change from sitting at the desk all day. Although my interests are mostly technical, I am also excited to work with animals!
We are super flexible as we currently own a car!
We are an open and adventurous couple, eager to try new foods, learn new skills and most of all meet new people!
