Descrição
Hello,
I hope this message finds you, your family and loved ones in good health and happiness.
I am currently in Kampot, Cambodia.
I came to Cambodia for the adventure, to see if I can start my own off-grid living systems charity for disadvantaged kids and the community. To achieve this, I want to settle into a community where I can properly assimilate, integrate, and slowly build networks.
Whilst I have lots of ideas for off-grid food sustainability, I first need to find a place and people to share these learning experiences with. When I use the phrase "off-grid living systems", I am referring to developing ways for people to grow food and harness clean water with minimal real estate and limited resources.
This means micro-greens, mushrooms, and bucket-grown vegetables like sweet potatoes (where you can harness both the tubers and utilise the greens), and even aquaponics (growing fish and vegetables in a small space, which fully support each other within a contained ecosystem). The approach is to find, utilise, and re-purpose pre-loved or used components instead of buying new. The key philosophy is to use what you have, investigate and discover what you can do with limited resources, and then develop a way to thrive.
Through this process, the endeavour is to include and build a community so that support for each other's growth and journey is strengthened. Teach as you learn and share, resulting in many smaller micro-businesses contributing to the hive, supporting each other through true local community marketing. Trades, skills, businesses, and training opportunities can therefore take root and grow, creating a better, stronger community web of spirit.
When the opportunity presents, I do cold swims and fasting. In a previous life, I focused on Chinese-style injury medicine (Kung Fu medicine), so I am always happy to go down the rabbit hole of conversation about health and good living over a casual cup of tea in my downtime—so be careful, we may need a timer and an alarm!
I have my Cambodian visa and work permit. My most recent Australian National Police Check was in Feb 2026. In Australia, you also need a 'Blue Card' (Working with Vulnerable People registration), which is a safety check license to certify I am cleared to be around children and vulnerable people.
Am hoping to be here in Cambodia for a while, and what better way to start this journey than as an English teaching assistant?
Personal needs require some self-time for sanity, study, and project work, as well as access to electricity, internet, and a fan - which I have ;-)
My experiences are wide and varied, from growing up in a buffalo-catching family deep in the Northern Territory and Queensland landscapes of Australia, to managing clubs, bars, and cafes in both Australia and the UK. I also hold an expired training certificate in Australia, and have backgrounds in injury medicine, telecommunications, and so much more.
Have helped renovate houses with painting, basic plumbing and irrigation, plastering, brush clearing/whipper-snipping, building retaining walls, and re-purposing pre-loved pallets into functional furniture. Am capable with IT, from fixing and installing IT cables, am still certified cable with open Australian license, and retain an interest in radio-waves technology (always useful for rural).
In the UK, I was contracted as a trainer for TESOL, motivation, and support, and also served as a training centre manager for welfare centres subsidised by the UK government, which included managing the Latchmere House prisoner reintegration programme in Kingston Upon Thames.
Whilst I have spent many years working as a trainer across different industries, I do not yet have a formal TESOL qualification, which I am more than happy to achieve whilst working.
Regarding food and diet, vegetarian/vegan mindset.
My eating habits are simple, based on eggs and vegetables.

I dabble with Thai, Japanese - not proficient, just really enjoy learning more about people and their culture. Have spent some 13+ years frequenting Thailand, when the opportunity presented, also did charity work when there. Am now here in Kampot, happy to change locations for the best opportunity - WIN-WIN-WIN for everybody. -

Quais são suas habilidades?
Am pretty much jack of 'some' trades. Being in telecommunications, am no strangers to tools. Working in family property, am used to a shovel and finding solutions. Basic plumbing etc. Am not a builder, nor mechanic - just useful as a side hand monkey to get the job done. I have tickets in forklift, scissorlift, MR truck etc - so am ok at driving - and have current licence. Don't drink - maybe on social occasions, don't smoke either. If you have dreams/plans - I'm good as the helper, because everyone has a perspective on how things need to get done - so I'd rather fit in, and learn your/their way and if I can suggest ways to improve, will offer if welcomed.

Algo mais...
My primary hobby/interest is pretty much anything off grid, as it's a wonderful opportunity to practice and put ideas into practice. From energy, building homes, natural heating, to water, food, mycelium and this alternative new booming industry. Literally anything permaculture and the various applications of systems. If you don't physically do it - you won't learn it and build that confidence of self reliance and community it brings.
