Hi there!

I am Janne, 27 years old, from Belgium (Flanders).
After traveling with my backpack and later on with my van Roger (love of my life), I headed back to Belgium to spend some time with friends and family (and earn and save up some money for my next adventures). During my time off now in July, I’d love to head out again and explore new places and meet new people.
I am looking for a place where I can roll up my sleeves. Hospitality, Interacting with guests, taking care of animals, doing chores, maintenance and garden work… You name it.

A good energy surrounding me is something I find very important. I love to interact with people who are open minded.
I hope to meet people who inspire me with their past experiences, their stories, their way of life...

Oh, and I absolutely LOVE dancing! It brings me instant happiness.

Quais são suas habilidades?

During the main time of the year I work at a catering company that provides vegetarian school meals. Cooking healthy meals for big groups is what my day to day life looks like.

I love looking after people, taking care of them and making sure they have a lovely time. I really look forward to gaining more experience in hospitality.

I have been a leader at a youth movement for years so I am familiar with hard work, teamwork AND working independently. I am able to take responsibility over a diverse range of duties. There are always going to be things you will be responsible for without past experience.
This ranges from creating a game for kids and entertaining them to organising big events, painting and renovating our building, cleaning, setting up a summer camp in the middle of nowhere, cooking for a big group…. .

Through living in the van for 2.5 years I think I’ve gained a lot of skills. I’ve noticed while writing this they are hard to pinpoint, but let’s say it comes down to social skills, being brave, persevering, adapting and, above all, learning that everything will turn out all right.

Through previous workaway experiences I’ve learned about permaculture farming, gardening, preserving food and taking care of animals. It would be nice to learn more about being self-sustainable.
I'd really like to gain some experience in building and renovating too. So I'd love to get a chance to work together with someone in these areas
My last workaway was at an animal shelter in Morocco, so let’s say I am definitely not afraid of getting my hands dirty. I absolutely loved being surrounded by the sweetest and most unique dogs. Days filled with instant happiness and heart-warming moments.

Furthermore, I am not afraid to ask questions so that I know very precisely my responsibilities
I am fluent in Dutch (mother tongue) and I am capable of communicating quite fluently in English, but there’s always room for improvement!
French is a language I’ve been really good at in high school, but I’ve stopped practising it, and I regret that. I am interested in learning some more about the language my host(s) speak(s).

In my free time, I like to stay active and go for a jog, a big hike or a swim. Most of the time I gather with friends: having dinner together, going for a walk, grabbing a coffee, going out, going for a swim in the river and having a picnic… But I don’t mind those solo dates like going to the movies and museums alone, people watching at the park, little walks in nature. I love music and dancing, and even more when I can share it with others. A little dub festival nearby with the best music, the best people and the best food? That’s my happy place.
I used to go to a lot of ecstatic dance events, it's still something I would recommend to everyone!

I do like some alone time too. I am a really sociable person but I also like being on my own sometimes to let everything sink in and to reflect on my days. I need to practise slowing down a bit more from time to time. I believe that it is really important to take a moment to feel and appreciate what is around you.

In an ideal world I'd be able to travel with my van Roger at any given moment and return back home to a community builded with my friends... Hey, a girl can dream, right?
