Hello lovely humans and thank you for reading my profile.
A bit of background on me:
I studied Fine Art in the UK and then in the Netherlands where I lived for 3 years and exhibited my artwork. Moving back to the UK to be with my then partner, I lived off-grid and worked on a woodland farmstead/eco-project for 3.5 years. In this time we built a barn out of salvaged materials, kept and bred chickens, ducks, doves, and goats, built a permaculture veg plot out of our own trees, planted an orchard, made tonnes of compost, and really the list just goes on. These years have provided me with knowledge of off-grid life, keeping animals, gardening, and building which I'd like to share and improve on. It has also accustomed me to hard graft, challenging environments, creative problem-solving, and generally low levels of luxury which I think makes me a pretty easy guest! During my last 6 months on the project we also hosted workaways and I hope that this experience makes me a helpful and empathic volunteer too.
My professional experience has been largely hospitality and retail based, including managing a bar. From these experiences, I know that I'm pretty happy working in any setting whether alone, part of a team, or managing a team if required.
I have also worked with children in a number of voluntary roles, including 2 summer schools in Jordan, one of which I personally set up and ran as well as teaching. More recently, I received a qualification in mentoring before working as a professional mentor for young people with additional needs. I also spent 6 months as a residential peer support volunteer in a community for adults who have been homeless.
People describe me as a fun, happy energy. I'm social, easygoing, and feeling really energised by the freedom and possibilities of this next chapter in my life. I'm also passionate about open communication and feedback so please always feel that you can discuss anything with me.
My new adventure is traveling South from Mexico City, through Central America. I'm looking to learn more eco-building techniques and experience a permaculture lifestyle in a tropical climate. I'd also love to rejuvenate my creativity with some artsy placements.
An ideal workaway for me would include the chance to learn new skills, lots of time in nature, some quiet moments to continue my meditation practice or do some sketching or crafting (I make and sell jewelry while on the road), and, of course, friendly, open people. My dietary preference is vegetarian, however, I am flexible depending on the food available.

(I have a mix of skills but I'd love to improve all of them given time)

I'm working on improving my personal environmental impact and using less chemicals so if anyone feels they can offer support and inspiration in using natural remedies, making homemade products or simply reducing waste I'd love and appreciate your presence. I'd also be very interested in learning yoga, and improving my cooking skills with new recipes!
