Hello! My name is Célia and I’m 27 years old from Brussels (capital of Belgium). I’m travelling through Canada (currently in the province of Quebec, I'm heading to the West in May) and I am looking for some work or volunteering opportunities.

A little bit about me: I studied translation because I love languages and discovering other cultures. French is my mother tongue but I’m fluent in English and I speak Italian as well (though my level in Italian is not as good as the other two, I can still talk and I understand very well). During my studies I got the opportunity to live abroad twice. The first time I lived and studied in Rome (Italy) for 4 months and my second stay was in Dublin (Ireland) where I did an internship in a translation company for 3 months. Apart from my love for languages, and traveling, I also love animals, nature, I enjoy reading, as well as doing any “cosy” hobby!
I am more of an introvert but I still love to meet new people (just not a fan of big crowds and I need some alone time to recharge). I am very chill and easy going (some people have said to me that it’s very hard not to get along with me so despite being a bit shy I am actually very friendly, open-minded and a non-judgmental person) :)

Regarding the type of work I am looking for, I’d say I’m open to a lot of things but I want to meet some people along the way so any positions with other workers/volunteers is great (in addition to meeting the hosts and their family) and while I don’t mind being around children and get along with them I do not want to care for them (so no au pair or babysitting jobs). Of course if you need help I don’t mind watching them for you once in a while but I don't want it to be my main task.
I would love to practice English or Italian and to help anyone with French. I’d say that my dream job would be to work with animals. I love all animals (I grew up with cats, dogs and smaller pets) and I used to do some horse riding. I love horses and I miss riding and above all being in contact with them…so any job with them would be a dream come true!!

A few words about my personality: as I said even though I can be a bit shy I am extremely friendly and easygoing. I love to help and learn. I am calm but I come from a big family so I don’t mind a little bit of chaos as long as I can have some time to myself as well! I like tidying, cleaning and organising. I don’t know a lot about manual work, gardening nor a lot about cooking (of course I know the basics) but I am interested in all three especially cooking (for exemple, I’d like to learn how to make homemade preserves, jams and syrups or how to bake). I am curious, I like learning and I have a quick mind so I think I should manage to keep up with most tasks if you take the time to teach them and show them to me. I am not extremely fit but I love walking and I have quite a lot of physical strength so I don't mind some physical work as long as I don't risk injury. Note that I do not have my driving licence.

I loved reading as a child (I still absolutely do but it was my entire personality as a teen ahah) which led to my love of my own language first quickly followed by my interest in English and Italian. I now have a master’s degree in literary translation (working with these 3 languages). I love to learn about any other language or culture and I am interested in the historical and the linguistic aspects of languages as well. I can certainly help with French and even English but I don’t think I’d be comfortable teaching Italian.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I’ve studied translation so I’m good with languages. I speak French (mother tongue), English (fluently) and Italian (pretty good and understand it very week).
I can be a bit shy but I am extremely friendly and easygoing. I have worked in retail so I’m very good with welcoming and helping customers. I am calm but I come from a big family so I don’t mind a little bit of chaos as long as I can have some time to myself to recharge my social batteries! I don’t want to look after children but I get along with them. I always enjoy helping others and learning basically anything new.

I think my description is already quite long so I don’t have much more to add.
I can tell you a little bit about my work experiences: I have babysitted regularly ; I worked in grocery stores (more specifically an Italian products one and an organic one where I learned a lot about more natural and alternative products) ; I did an internship in translation but haven't worked in my field since then ; and finally while in Canada, I have helped in a hostel, I did some house and pets sitting and helped with other tasks like tidying, cleaning, organising and harvesting maple syrup!
I can also mention that I am not vegetarian nor vegan but I don’t mind following these diets for a while if it’s important to you. I am not big on meat either even though I enjoy fish, poultry and eggs.
