Hi -
Summer 2021 was my first experience with the Workaway program and it was wonderful. I was introduced to a little bit of everything from picking green beans, herding cows, building a stick fence to feeding goats. Quite an experience for this city person. My hosts have all been fantastic and I have seen many beautiful places. My goal is to keep the the learning curve going through the Workaway program for the next few years.

Quais são suas habilidades?
I retired and want to explore, travel, acquire different skills and enjoy new experiences. Basically I’m a city person with a background in administration (although I did work in archaeology and in a prison), a mom who raised three sons, and a grandma who crawls under kitchen tables to play with the grandkids. I like being outdoors and am pretty active- hiking, jogging, dancing, and playing pickle ball. I enjoy photography and am working on upgrading from amateur to intermediate. I’m hardworking and reliable, tend to be quiet at first, and have a good sense of humor. While working and raising a family, I volunteered at my sons’ schools and for their sports activities, at a food bank, Habitat for Humanity, and at special events for a winery. Workaway caught my attention because it offers an opportunity to give back, do things to benefit not only myself but others, and to challenge myself.

Cindy was a great workawayer! She communicated well from the very start. We loved how she’d check in with us as the dates approached. Cindy is a great worker very smart and methodical and easy to pick up a new skill if something arose that she was not familiar with. Linni and Trent were wonderful hosts immediately making me feel right at home. My work schedule was flexible and as September Is pretty hot I usually started early in the morning leaving the afternoon for exploring or cooling off in the pool. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Kathy and Bob. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, the early morning and late night skies amazing, and the meals delicious. I learned a lot about edible plants, gardening, rocket mass heating, composting and a more sustainable way of living among other things. I enjoyed mushroom hunting with Kathy and her… read more

All my hosts last summer were wonderful. My first hosts this season, Tim and Allison, were no exception; they are down to earth, warm and friendly. Tim and Allison, along with their daughter and a pup, opened up their home and immediately I felt part of the family.

It was really nice to have Cindy for a stay. The whole family really enjoyed her company, we feel that we found another kindred spirit. It was a busy time during her visit so we didn't get to do as much fun stuff as we had hoped. Cindy was a big help with various tasks in the yard, garden and guest house. This was my first experience with the program and I was fortunate to have Rhonda and Dan as my hosts - they were wonderful! There were plenty of options (chores) to choose from depending on your interest and the schedule was flexible. Cindy left a couple of weeks ago and we miss her. She was so much fun to have around and she was a very hard worker. She looked for things to do. She never had to be motivated. Working alongside Gillian was an awesome. Cindy was easy to get along with, easy to feed, and she respected our space. She was always cheerful and willing to tackle anything! What a beautiful place and wonderful people.
