Hello all, my name is Braven.

I am an optimistic and playful learner with an explorative personality. I deeply value and respect nature in all its forms and appreciate the wisdom it provides. I enjoy looking for ways to strengthen communities especially in their connection to the Earth and our inner selves. To build my own awareness I put effort toward practicing awareness. I especially enjoy creative expression with art, sound meditation, sky gazing, and reading.

As I grow, I am seeking the company of nurturing environments and people. Having the space to slow down and appreciate life makes me feel content. Being around people who like to look beyond the surface tends to make me feel the most welcome and energized. I will enjoy having contemplative discussions as well as light-hearted conversations.

Quais são suas habilidades?
I commit myself to meaningful work and especially enjoy task that involve working with elements of the outdoors. My experiences comes from a background in hospitality, gardening, animal care, engaging with youth of all ages, art activism/therapy, and education.

In regard to my work style I manage well interdependently or collaboratively and tend to learn best when given a demonstration or example.

My skills consist of: vegetable and flower gardening, small animal care, home cleaning, organization, repurposing/up-cycling, landscaping, natural building, painting, curriculum building, behavioral management, customer service and guest satisfaction. I also am a leader with proven success in providing effective guidance by implementing a nurturing leadership style and creative problem-solving techniques.

I am from the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania USA.

I am the oldest of three siblings.

I completed my Bachelors of Science degree at Ohio State studying Community Development, Economics, and Sustainability with a minor in Inequalities of Society.

Recently I have been particularly interested in learning new breathing exercises, drum circles, dairy cow farms/sanctuaries, yoga, waterfalls, organic farming, herbalism, and recycled material art!

I study all spiritual wisdom that comes across my path with curiosity and respect. I admire teachers such as Buddha, Śri Ānandamayī Mā, Amma, Mooji, Eckankar, and Jesus with an open mind and heart to other teachings of love and self-realization.

I had a really nice experience. The previous reviews hold true, the food and people are great.

Most of my work was in the garden, however, I also was asked to help in construction projects/preperation, lifting and carrying materials, cleaning, as well as waterring the front plants.

I was a solo volunteer here from July 5th - August 11th. During the entirety of my stay I was so at peace. The location is perfect in so many ways. Just a 15 minute walk down the road and you can get on the Clallam County bus line. The bus will take you to Port Angeles where you can run all your necessary errands, get groceries (check out Country… read more Natural Aire), or event get onto connecting bus routes to checkout more of the Peninsula. I was able to get up to Forks and Kalaloch using the bus system alone.

Back home here you are very close to easily accessible beach spots such as Murdock beach (closest, walkable distance) and twin beach (further, probably would want to bike/drive). The closest body of water is the Lyre River which is accessible at the Lyre River Campground. This spot might had been my favorite. The water is so refreshing and there are some deep spots for swimming. Some other places that I would recommend if you have a car are MaryMere falls ( be a rebel and go down the lil path to the big waterfall), Hurricane Ridge (once you have admired the views of to the Wolfe trail for a more private hike with woods and views), Mt. Storm King (hikers extended the trail all the way to the peak for those of you who are extra extra daring), Lake Crescent (wow I miss swimming there), First Beach at LaPush Forks (huuuuuuge drift wood), Lyre River Conservation Area Trail (so close to the camp with a beautiful trail taking you to the ocean), and Salt Creek Recreation Area (make sure to go at low tide to see the tidal pools).

Life on camp was easy. The chores they describe are as they say they are. I would do them once I woke up and then have the rest of the day to myself. You might also be there at the same time as other volunteers like I was which helps with splitting up responsibilities. What Laurel's feedback says is true, you will be experiencing off-grid living. While it might seem scary it is actually so rewarding. You become removed from the buzz of electronics and instead emerged in nature, as we all should be. Put your phone down (yes there is cell service) and instead find a spot in one of the many hammocks around the camp.

To all my POC, it is a predominately white area. However, I received nothing but kindness from all the locals. Sure a few extra long looks but those were followed by hello's and questions about how I like the area. The direct area around the property has a few neighbors, which I had the privilege of meeting most and can say that they were also friendly. In addition I had no issues with people who came through the camp. Still, of course, trust your own judgement and make the best choices to keep yourself safe.

Other random things I would have wanted to know: no signs of bears or raccoons (we were able to keep food in our tents), gets really cold at night so pack some thermals, there's a solar powered charging bank in the tent for your phone and other small devices, you can bathe using a hanging bag device at the camp or go to the lyre river or use conventional showers at Salt Creek Recreation Area that you pay for with quarters, there is a laundromat 6 miles from camp towards Port Angeles where you will be washing the sheets for the tents (to get quarters you can exchange $ at the general store next door, bugs were not bad I never got bit, if there is another volunteer at the same time as you then it is likely y'all will be sharing the volunteer tent where there are two separate mattresses, no ticks, lots of edible wild herbs, you have to change out the compost toilet which is terrible the first time but then you just learn to get over it, they provided you with logs to chop for firewood, it is really quiet at night (there are surprisingly no crickets or cicadas just the breeze), kitchen set up has all the essentials including a propane stove top, if you use the bus notice that that it does not come close to the campground past 5:00 and instead stops at the general store (it shows this on the bus schedule but I missed that one time), you have enough cell service for phone calls and to pull up directions, save/download the direction before you leave because you loose it on the roads.

Ultra tremendous thank you to Abby and Luke who were so loving and kind to me. The entire experience went so well because of how smart and considerate they are. They want you to have a great time and it shows.
