Hello!

My name is Dexter (or just Dex). I'm a 27 year old man from a small welsh town called Machynlleth. It's mainly known for being the ancient capital of Wales, its thriving market over 700 years old and also for The Center for Alternative Technology (CAT) which is situated just 3 miles up the road which has attracted like minded people from all over the world since the early 70's. It's also a protected UNESCO Biosphere. It's where I grew up and proud to call it home.

I am new to workaway, I have been in full-time employment since the day I left secondry school, over a 11 years ago but I have always dreamed of travel and exploration but as usual, constrained to work, money and more recently COVID.

I have finally gathered the funds and cleared the decks at work to go on my travels, and here I am! I want to learn, make new friends, explore and help whereever I can, it's where I find the most joy :)

I would not describe myself as a linguist, so I would not be great language teacher in my opinion. I am fluent in English, I was fluent in the ancient language of Welsh but have not practised in over a decade. I could teach basic Welsh. I'm open to learn: French, Spanish, Russian

Quais são suas habilidades?

I am a hard worker by nature, prioritising efficiency, working smarter not harder is always best!

My first real job after school was a kitchen porter, but quickly getting promoted to chef, and then eventually sous chef in a prestigious restaurant Number 21, ranking #3 on Tripadvisor in the all of Wales at one point! So all aspects of the kitchen and front of house I am very familiar with. I was here for 3 years.

My second job was working in a managerial role at The Organic Textile Company. I was an account manager for international wholesale customers as well as the warehouse manager. I learnt a lot here in many fields over my 5 year period there.

I then got head hunted for a technical role in the solar industry by a growing company Cambridge Solar, with a sister company Exeo Energy which were the same team providing the same service, in different parts of the UK. I again worked in many field in this occupation from training staff to designing and installing solar energy systems over 3 years.

I am also a music producer and sound engineer, my main passion I have done in my past-time. I have written, recorded, mixed and mastered an entire album available on Youtube and other streaming platforms. I have self taught these set of skills over the past 12 years - I love making music!

I do not have children, but would like to one day.
I love all animals (apart from mosquitos), so bring on all the pets!
I have two siblings, and older brother and younger sister, we all get on really well.
I have NO criminal record and have a police certificate to proof it.
I have a full clean UK driving license accompanied with an international driving permit.
My hobbies and interests include music and sound production, archery and fletching, hiking and camping, board and video games, astronomy and astrology, photography - to name a few. I love trying new things out, the above are the ones I've 'stuck' to :)
