Heyyy!

I’m Ayla, 28, from England. In 2023 I properly caught the travel bug and realised how much I love experiencing new places in a genuine, grounded way. I’ve always been curious by nature and love meeting people from all walks of life , there’s always something to learn from everyone you meet.

I’d say I’m optimistic, open-minded, and happiest when I’m learning or trying something new. I’ve worked in all sorts of environments; events, festivals, bars, and food catering so I’m used to keeping busy, adapting quickly, and getting stuck in (the messier the job, the better, usually).

Through Workaway I’ve volunteered as a teaching assistant in Lombok, worked as a personal assistant for a businessman in Bali, and as a hostel receptionist in Malaysia, all completely different, all equally unforgettable. Each one taught me to adapt fast, stay organised, and keep my sense of humour intact.

Back home I’ve been pet and house sitting through Rover, caring for cats and dogs (some elderly, some anxious, all adorable). I’m a total animal lover, I have three cats of my own back home and often help out on my family’s smallholding, which has chickens, dogs, cats, and horses.

I’m really interested in sustainable living and self-sufficiency, and I’d love to learn more about off-grid lifestyles and animal care. I’m also a bit of a water baby, paddleboarding is my happy place, and I’m slowly learning to surf (emphasis on slowly).
