Greetings!

My name is Alaya A. Dannu (aka Diya D’Anu). I am looking for a welcoming space to share my passions for sacred movement, sound and energy healing, and transformative experiences that reconnect us to ancient ancestral wisdom.

Through sacred dance and dreamweaving, I aim to facilitate healing and personal growth for all who are interested.

My ultimate vision is to establish a sacred dance school where women can rediscover their ancient matriarchal roots, tapping into the deep spiritual knowledge that can help heal the world through sacred dance and devotion to the vibrational frequency of love and all that is sacred.

Here’s a slightly more in-depth “about me”:

As a Curandera Birthkeeper, I am the guardian of ancient wisdom, a restorer and rebirther of sacred knowledge, and a space holder for those who seek alignment with their root origin(s) or are in the process of discovering this profound connection.

My sacred duty is to rebirth and restore knowledge that would otherwise remain concealed – unseen and unknown – nurturing a sanctuary for those embarking on the journey of self-discovery and reconnection to their primordial roots.

(re)Birthing, in its essence, is a sacred ritual deeply intertwined with the nature of the Primordial Mothers, and I, as a Curandera Birthkeeper, am rooted within the embrace of one of the Seven (primordial) Holy Mothers of the Universe. In this sacred role, I guide others along the luminous path of rediscovering their own divine heritage, just as the Primordial Mothers have whispered to me in the cosmic echoes of ancestral dreams, dream revelations, and waking visions.

I walk the sacred path of my ancient foremothers, the matriarchs who came before, guided by their whispered wisdom woven into dreams and visions. Through this spiritual connection and intuition, I recall glimmers of forgotten societies - where her daughters, priestesses, held power, and our progenitor ancestresses/mother goddesses were honored. Academia often overlooks these cultures, yet their mysteries call to me.

My life's purpose is to unveil hidden intricacies, shining light on our matriarchal roots. To resurrect the voices of our ancient ancestral mothers, whose embodied, inherent divinity and sacred knowledge have been dismissed for too long. Their stories are waiting to be unearthed and revived.

This is soul work that transcends academia's walls. Together, we shall rekindle the embers of Her ancient rites and rituals. Birth anew dances of healing, channeling and weaving the heartbeat of our foremothers into each rhythmic step. Our journey writes a new verse while keeping faith with the old songs.
We are rebirthing what was lost but never forgotten, carrying whispers on the wind, from past to future, spirit to our DNA.

I am computer savvy - well versed in Microsoft Word [sorry, I'm a PC devotee; I haven't explored Mac as of yet] capable of putting a website together [from setup to design - design from a template, not from coding/scratch - however I am also capable of editing code if need be]; amateur travel photographer; I love, love, love arts & crafts - craft wire [for jewelry or decor], paper crafts, jewelry making...and I Love to cook. I think food tastes so much better when lots of love goes into the preparation and cooking of food.

I'm really good at photo, video, and sound editing; GIMP knowledgeable [a free alternative to Photoshop].

As a doctoral student, my writing skills are very good, especially with editing.

I am familiar with a few AI tools and utilize them to assist with the creative process. However, nothing can beat the authenticity of one's personal voice.

I am currently working on my dissertation: a documentary that is an autoethnography, documenting my experiences of following the guidance of three ancestral mothers who came to me in December 2023 and made specific requests centered on the Pacific island and Hawaii.

When I'm not doing my dissertation work, I am either binge-watching anime, or doing some sort of creative/artistic activity, or if I'm near nature, I'm out and about...or deep in meditation or dreaming for information.

What can I say? I've spent a wonderful 5 months and 7 days. It was perhaps, the best workaway experience I have had, thus far. The tasks were not difficult; pretty straightforward: housekeeping, kitchen help, and some gardening.

This was my first workaway experience. It was beautiful, magical, and life enhancing. If you have the opportunity to go, please go. Erhan is a very accommodating host, the kitchen staff is like a second family to me [Nesrin, Ismihan, I miss you dearly], the view is amazing, and the hiking trails that are available to you are magnificent.

I… read more was their first workaway so the schedule was a bit fluid at first: I helped out in the kitchen and during breakfast, up until about 3pm. I usually had time to myself after this. In the kitchen, I did the dishes, helped to clear off the tables, and sometimes in the evening I would assist Nesrin, the 2nd Chef [awesome cook btw] with clean up. If it got really busy and there was a dish on the stove I knew how to cook, I would be allowed to prepare it just to help ease the flow in the kitchen. You don't have to know how to set or wait tables; Erhan will pretty much let you know what to do, where to be, and how to do it. Or if he doesn't give a thorough explanation, the staff will communicate it to you.

I also offered dance classes to those who were interested. It all went well while it lasted. If you're offering something in exchange as well, don't feel bad if people stop showing up to your offering. It happens.

Language: You don't have to speak Turkish to communicate with the staff. You just have to be willing to be present and open to communication with your hands, learn by watching, and be available during your allocated time. I did really well with the staff when I was there; anyone can do the same.

Bring a camera [or two]. You'll definitely regret it if you don't. Hiking shoes would be great as well.

I only intended to be there for the month of April, and I was invited to stay for May. I left June 2nd.

If Erhan says he's going out and invites you, try to go along. You never know when you'll get another opportunity to go. Summer is coming so I am not sure if he'll have the time to go far [like to Pergamum, or Sardis], but if he or his sister is going out and they invite you, go. If his friends come out to the hotel and invite you somewhere, go.

The evenings are usually cooler than the day; at least it was much cooler in the spring. Not sure how the summer months will be. However if you're going to be hiking up the mountain [at least 2 hours in], you'll want to bring a light jacket. It gets cooler faster higher up on the mountain than it does where the hotel is located.

Lastly, the food. Most of the produce is grown on the property. The herbs are all grown on property - so if you're an herbal tea fan, your ingredients are in the garden. There are apricots, strawberries, soon-to-be grapes, almonds, pomegranates [though they're only just blooming now]... If you're a vegetarian, they'll be accommodating. If you eat meat, there's plenty. You won't go hungry, so you needn't worry.

There is a family dog and then there are the village cats and dogs. The cats you'll see frequently, though you might not see that many dogs on property. In the village, they're everywhere. If you're deathly allergic to cats and dogs, you might have some difficulties. Everyone in Turkey smokes; so if you're allergic to cigarette smoke, you might have some difficulties.

Other than that, I loved it here. Who know if I'll be able to return for a second run. In the very least I am glad I to have had the opportunity to be here. Thank you so much Erhan.

Workawayers, if you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to contact me. I know there's a lot of craziness going on in Turkey, but this location is far away from it all, and is really safe.
