Descrição

We are currently traveling through Portugal in Emy’s camper van hoping to find a community we like where we can live together. We have had a lot of fun volunteering in the past, so we have been dreaming of hosting volunteers ourselves.
First we want to volunteer at some places in Portugal to get some inspiration, make friends, learn new skills, and get to know some different parts of this country.

At other vulenteering jobs we’ve enjoyed gardening, cooking, building, organizing, and planning game nights.


EMY

I’m super social and easy to connect with. I enjoy being part of a group, helping out where I can, and creating a warm, open vibe. I’m curious, open-minded, and love hearing people’s stories and learning from different perspectives.

I’m also not afraid of hard work and I genuinely enjoy being active and hands-on. I’ve helped build a tiny house in Sweden while living in a small community, worked for five weeks on an organic farm in Thailand planting and harvesting fruits and vegetables, and spent three weeks at the Mindfulness Project helping to build a new intentional community. In Greece, I volunteered at a cat sanctuary, and in North Carolina I supported clean-up efforts after Hurricane Helene. In the Netherlands, I’ve worked on house construction building walls, organizing tools and materials, and doing demolition work. I also regularly work at events and festivals there, doing everything from planning to on-site operations.

Each of these experiences has taught me something different. What they all have in common is that they’ve shown me how much I love contributing to something meaningful, being around people, and learning by doing.

Right now I’m especially drawn to community living. That’s why I’m traveling through Portugal to get inspired by people and places that are building something beautiful together.

AARON

I have a rotating set of interests depending on who I’m around and where I am. I love physical activity, whether that’s climbing, hiking, acro yoga, running, or even just hard physical labor. When I have access to a guitar I love to play. I love having long conversations about people’s backgrounds and perspectives on life. And I really love weed whacking (that sounds like it maybe is a double meaning , but I actually just really enjoy it 🤣)

I like cooking for friends, I like cooking for myself… I like to eat.

Sometimes I like to work on the computer. I’ve been learning some 3D modeling recently. I used to work as a software engineer so I’m always available to help out with that sort of techy stuff

Quais são suas habilidades?

Our greatest skill is that we are fast learners. Aaron has done some basic gardening work before, like weeding and pruning, and Emy worked at a cat sanctuary in Greece, so she is good with animal care. Aaron has also done some very basic carpentry, building furnature for the interior of a custom van.
