Descrição

We are Canadians living on a small island on the west coast of Canada (British Columbia). We've travelled on long trips before we had kids, and again in 2017-18, when we took leaves from our work responsibilities and explored some of our favourite parts of the world for a year.

That year of travel affirmed the great truth we already knew, but it was most profound to experience first-hand in so many places, languages and cultures : the indomitable beauty of the human spirit. We all just want to have family and friends to share our lives with, be comfortable, keep learning and have some good laughs and memories to cherish.

And on that year of travel, we were Workawayers. And those stays were definite highlights. We did a house and pet sit, worked as gardeners in Oxfordshire, and did home maintenance and repairs in Normandy, France and South Island, New Zealand.

In June 2025, Kathy is retiring after 38 years as a primary public school teacher. Ken has worked in communications in non-profit arts and environmental organizations, as a carpenter, and the owner/operator of a water treatment business. He is staying "semi-retired" now and works the odd carpentry job and as a native habitat restoration landscaper.

We are active people and love learning new things. We love gardening, camping and hiking, music and cultural events, and having good laughs with family and friends (old and new). We are tidy and organized and enjoy having guests, as well as being good and considerate guests ourselves!
