Dear Workawayers,
we are a collective of film makers and puppet artists, originally from Finland, Sweden and Czech, and together we are doing stop motion animation projects, installations and developing small gallery in Prague, Czech Republic. We have been producing puppet animations here since 1991, so in 2021 we were celebrating our 30th anniversary! We started to cooperate with Workaway during 2013, and we have been accommodating wonderful guests from all continents since then.
Some of our recent works:
In 2016, we shot a puppet animation " Radio Dolores" . It was a part of an international project- based on the real stories of Finnish volunteers in the Spanish Civil War fighting against fascism in the Thirties. During 2017-2019, we had various exhibitions where the puppets and props were presented in many countries.
During the corona lockdowns in Prague we managed to go on, and realized a short animation called " The Last Matador". It is a dark satire about Vladimir Putin as an unlucky wanna-be-matador, and just now very actual. The distribution just started, and we will also make exhibitions about the project. Just now, we are organizing many fund-rising events with this film to support Ukraine.
During spring 2022, we will open an experimental gallery space in the heart of Prague Old Town. We will also shoot a demo for future puppet animation series " In the Kings Town", which is based on the old Roma stories of Carelia.
At the same time , we are developing our art residency program in Prague and in the small village of Dobronice u Bechyne in the southern Bohemia
We welcome helpers of all kind- during spring we will clean the gallery and the residency spaces, install two exhibitions , make a lot of props for the new film and also create presentation portfolios, ( printed and on-line) , so we will be happy if you have special skills in lay-out, photographing or web-design.
Sometimes we need also a helping hand to take care of our friendly dog Faust and of our garden in Dobronice.
We offer accommodation in a separate room in the art residency in the heart of Prague Old Town and in the romantic attic in the cottage. We are cooking together three mostly vegetariand meals per day, our brekfast starts with porridge and sometimes we can go for fishing in the Luznice river while in the cottage.

In Prague, you will get a room in our Baroque house in the Old Town.

We have a dog so we hope that the volunteers are not allergic as the spaces are shared with him, too. Smoking is allowed outside only. Please remember the valid travel insurance.

Kaiku (1 ano)
Kaiku is 2,5 years old well-mixed rescue dog, medium-sized and maybe a border collie with some other shepherd dog ingredients from Tatra mountains. When he came to us two years ago, he was very shy and reserved, but slowly he is adapting into our collective and now he has already many closer friends.
