Margaret has created such a lovely, welcoming space on her beautiful property. She is generous with her time and knowledge, and is also lots of fun to be around!
During my almost three weeks at her place, I worked on a variety of projects including seed sowing, weeding, cutting wood, harvesting willow for basket making, doing some spring cleaning
… read more in the polytunnel, cooking, and more. She also trusted me to look after her place when she was out of town one weekend, and included me in some trips around the area as well as her weekly yoga class. The pace was generally relaxed and there was plenty of time for reading, chatting, and cuddling Gizmo as well. The location is also stunning, with lovely walks just outside the door.
I am so grateful to have stayed at Margaret's and am already planning to go back!

My time at Margaret's Workaway was really chill, calm and wonderful. She has a beautiful home with gorgeous views and a lovely garden with a polytunnel and spiral. I spent 1 month at Margaret’s with Maddie, a young American WorkAwayer with whom I fitted in very well.

But if you need regular lunch times, it’d be better to let her know in advance, because as she said: “it’s meals anarchy! “😊
Margaret introduced us to her friends and family and included us in her activities. We went to Bantry market together and she also invited us to participate to her yoga class.
The garden is very pleasant, the house and bedroom comfortable. The work was not hard at all, it was mainly gardening, cooking, small DIY and household chores. I also created a poster on her laptop for her autumn yoga session. And we also rebuilt new steps with big stones in a part of the garden with Maddie to access to the future Fairy Garden. We did a great job!
Margaret went to Germany a few days so, Maddie and I looked after her cat Gizmo (often outside during the day, hunting, at home by night) and kept the garden in good health, doing some weeding, watering and harvesting. We also went to around 30 shops in town to give them the poster created for the (re-)beginning of the yoga session. It was a nice experience to discover the various shops and meet the welcoming people of Dunmanway at the same time😊
If you like walking, there’s a new trail around the house with a splendid view on the valley. Margaret’s house is a perfect location to visit the south-east of Ireland, especially if you have a car. There are plenty of things to do in the area. We were very lucky with the weather and I really enjoyed my time there.
@Margaret, thanks again for your generosity and the good time spent together!Comentário

My partner and I stayed with Margaret for two weeks, and it was exceptional! This was my fourth Workaway, and I have to say that it was one of my favourites. The work we accomplished during our stay was varied and interesting; we dug up a lot of weeds, repainted the bathroom, re-varnished the wooden decking, mowed the lawn, etc. We even restored a miniature wooden chair and decorated it in bright colours and swirling patterns for Margaret's baby granddaughter to sit on!
When we weren't working, we shared a lot of time with Margaret too, which varied from preparing a meal together using the produce from her vegetable garden, to drinking a pint of Guinness in a small, crowded Irish pub and listening to a gig. Margaret is keen to show you around Cork and to help you experience the culture of Ireland, and it really does show - the cultural exchange is very important to her. Even on our first day in Cork, we were introduced to Margaret's relatives and were welcomed as a part of the family. This is truly special!
Thank you for everything, Margaret. If we find ourselves in Cork someday, we would love to see you again. All the best :)

Thank you so much llaria and Giordan for all your help around the garden and kitchen. Together they created a fabulous frame and netting to safe my blueberries from the birds, Giordan cut the grass with both mower and strimmer and used it for mulching my trees, while Illaria made a fantastic job of weeding and also planting flowers beautifully. We stayed with Margaret for only 10 days, it was a healthy experience! She has a beautiful house with a garden full of flowers and vegetables, all well tidy. ☀️ We appreciated her simplicity, her spontaneity and her sense of humor. We mainly took care of the garden (cutting grass, planting flowers and vegetables, making compost, weeding, etc.) but
… read more we also cooked sometimes. Margaret is a great cook and it was nice to drink herbal tea with herbs from her garden. She has a very good knowledge of the flora and it was pleasant to learn new things. 🌿Margaret invited us to her yoga classes and that was a great experience too. One day on the weekend we went to the Skibberen market and then had an Irish picnic by the sea (we also fed a fox). Margaret is an empathetic person with a golden heart. 🫶 We will miss her very much and hope to see her again one day. Teresa was an absolute pleasure to host. Her open warm hearted personality is infectious and her 'no nonsense' approach to any job gets things done before you know it. Ohh Margaret, what a fun and quirky human you are. :) Margaret is a healer and a creator of time and space. She is good at listening and tries to make people happy. She is very kind. She loves to crack jokes and tell stories and spend time with those who share her home. Her home is lovely, and you can tell it was lovingly crafted. While the

We planted potatoes together and crushed biochar and mixed it with compost tea. We worked in the polytunnel to mow down the forests of kale. :) If you like kale, you'll love this place. We also worked on an a spiral garden for pollinators, using woodchip as the pathways. She makes lovely porridge that is wholesome and nutritious as well as a lemon, ginger, bay leaf and turmeric tea. So good.
There's a nice mix of things happening here. Margaret was also happy to take us with her wherever she was going, from her yoga sessions, to the Bantry Market and Skibbereen Market, Durrus, Cork, the beach etc. I got to meet her adult kids and several of her friends. She is well connected and is a social person. I would definitely stay with her again. The last few days there I set up an irrigation system for her polytunnel for automated watering. Go spend some time with Margaret, you will not regret it.

We want to say big thanks to Margaret to welcome us into her cozy home. The variety of things to explore and work on her property is great. We absolutely appreciate her trust in us and the opportunity to stay in her home for two weeks more to homesitting her house and land. It is such a beautiful place to stay, you can see the sunrise behind one mountain and the sunset behind another mountain, there is a mountain to climb just right next to her house. On top of all that, we absolutely fell in love with her cat Gizmo!
It was a lovely time to talk about life stories, cook, eat, laugh and taking care of each other. Dear Magaret, thank you for being such a generous and friendly person, I believe many people more will spent a wonderful time at your place.
Until we see each other again next time! :-)

I was one of Margaret’s winter workawayers last November, for the quiet time of the year.

You’re an excellent cook, Margaret, and I know you’ll be super happy to read my note of approval here for ginger in the porridge (yes indeed, it's yum!), along with the strong teas to start the day.
I learned a lot at your place. Layering compost, advanced strimming and weeding, connecting a washing machine, facing my own emotional shit. We had brilliant chats, you have a huge heart and a lot of wisdom to offer. I wouldn’t be where I am, if we hadn’t spent that time together. And I’m very grateful for it. Thank you :)
PS: Give Gizmo a tummy rub from me, please.
