Descrição
We are a beautiful farm in the heart of Transilvania, Romania. We are a family business and have 40 horses and 7 ponies, 2 donkeys, many dogs, and many other farm animals. We produce our food right here at the farm!

We offer nice riding experiences for tourist, for example we take them on horseback to our spectactular surroundings like "Cheile Rasnoavei" which is a small canyon right here in the mountains. We also offer riding lessons for beginner riders and carriage/sledge rides for those who do not want to ride. With all these activities we would like you to help us!

In your time off you can visit many sightseeing points here in Transylvania, Romania: Bran Castle, Rasnov Castle, the bear sanctuary in Zarnesti, Brasov city center and old town. If you are a sports person you can visit the nearby adventure parks or just go on lovely hikes in our mountains. The Malaiesti lodge for example is a nice hike of about 3 hours. If you like shopping, in Brasov are a few shopping malls and nice restaurants.

I stayed at the farm with Cristina, her friendly family for an initial period of two weeks (much more to come in the very near future), and I had a wonderful time. They are very friendly, welcoming, and made me feel like really being part of the family, spending time together riding, talking, meeting their friends, or eating delicious and very… read more healthy home cooked meals prepared by Cristina and her sister.

There are more than 30 lovely horses (geldings and mares) and 5 very cute ponies at the farm, and most of them when are not used for riding, enjoy living freely on a large pasture near a creek during the day, and spend the night in a big grass paddock. Most of the horses and ponies are used for walking groups of guests (sometimes large groups of children on summer camps), riding inside arena or out on the trails, or for teaching riding lessons, and there are also some horses staying in pension and retired horses.
Also there are maybe close to 15 large friendly dogs walking freely all over the farm, so you need to be quite confident and make friends with them too. :)

My work was almost entirely horse-related: daily exercising of some of the trail riding horses (sometimes riding together with Cristina and her friends, sometimes riding alone on trails to the Rasnoavei Gorges, or in an outdoor arena), lunging horses, taking guests on trail rides, walking novice guests or children on horses, brushing, tacking, showering the horses before/after rides or moving horses between the day pastures, night paddock and the stables.

I was lucky enough to come at the farm in time for an important horse show, the National Equestrian Festival, held for three days each year near the old Fortress in Rasnov, so I was able to ride at the opening parade through the city, and during the show, which was very interesting and great fun.

Also you will have to really take your time to learn how to identify all 30 horses by name, color and particular marks when they are all together on the pasture and you have to bring some of them in, to know which horse goes in which stall (there are one big and two smaller stables), to learn which saddle and bridle fits each of the riding horses, and of course to get to know their individual character, so I would suggest to take some notes in the beginning...I know I did! :)

All in all, I'm very happy with my experience on the farm, and I'm looking forward to returning to the farm.
