  Hello!
  My name is Shelby and I am a 27 year old Canadian! I have a passion for travelling and have used WorkAway myself to work and travel! Workaway is an amazing opportunity to meet people and safely travel long term to destinations! Whenever you stay in a destination longer you can really experience what life is like there, the local spots you never see when only stopping in a place for a week or two.
  After having an amazing time in Australia at a workaway I have decided that I want to share my home by becoming a host! I would like to host 1-2 likeminded peoplewould for a period of time throughout the summer and show you what amazing things we have to offer! I work a weird schedule and most of my friends work Monday-Friday 9-5 so the main reason I want to host is to be able to have new friends to show all around Alberta with lots of camping, hiking and outdoor adventures! I want to share my piece of Canada and make new friends along the way.
  
  I have been back in Canada for over 6 months now after my 1.5 year travels and am planning on staying in Canada for the summer! I live with my parents and when introducing the idea of having a Workaway they were very excited! They are getting older and there are more and more tasks that they are unable to do, mostly with the housework and yardwork. We have quite a large home and the outdoor space as well as a lakehouse that has a large outdoor area! Some of the main tasks would be outdoor work (mowing the lawn, watering the flowers and garden), some housework (vacuuming, mopping, keeping your space clean), as well as pet sitting while we are away for short periods throughout the summer. There are only a few dates that we will all be away and you may be in charge of house sitting but walking and playing with the two medium sized dogs anytime is always encouraged. I have a room for 1-2 people in our home but we could also set you up for periods of time at the lake house while we are there or for you to have a mini vacation! We have a hot tub, bikes, board games, video games, exercise equipment and weights and much more so I am sure we can keep you entertained!
  
  We live outside of a small city so it would be good for you to have a vehicle (if you're staying in Canada for longer), but I would also be your main helper while you are here and can drive you places that you want to go or lend our electric bikes so that you can go to surrounding cities. I work a job that has weird hours and often have weekdays off! In this time I would love to have friends that I could spend time with and taking camping and hiking throughout the Canadian Rockies! I would love to take you to Banff and Jasper, British Columbia, and show you all of the local spots as well! I am about a 3 hour drive from the mountains so there is always the opportunity for day trips! I have stand up paddleboards for lake adventures, kayaks and canoes for the lake near our home, and many more ideas for fun activities!
  
  I am looking for 1-2 people who are kind and personable like me who want to meet new people and have new experiences! I am willing to have you stay for a short amount of time or longer and love to facetime before hand to make sure we are a good fit! I will continue to update this as I am very excited to open our home to you! I would have some tasks for you every day, but can be very flexible if you have a trip planned or we decide we want to take a camping trip instead of work that week!

  The main thing that brings people to Canada is our Canadian Rockies! I am a 3 hour drive from Kananaskis which has wonderful camping and hiking as well as very close to Banff and Jasper Area! I would be happy to take you camping, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and all of the amazing outdoor activities we have here! I want to show off our amazing province (Alberta) and Canada! We would love to also share meals with you - although there are not many 'Canadian' dishes we love to BBQ in the summer time! We would love to learn about your culture and learn to cook some of your favorite dishes as well! My family and I speak English, but I have learned some French and am working on Spanish so would love to practice if you speak those languages!

  I understand that everyone has different skills and so I would love to hear from you about what type of tasks you may want to complete and of course if anything I have available is not in your wheelhouse you can always do other tasks!
  
  We have quite a large home and the outdoor space as well as a lakehouse that has a large outdoor area! Some of the main tasks would be outdoor work (mowing the lawn, watering the flowers and garden), some housework (vacuuming, mopping, keeping your space clean), as well as pet sitting while we are away. There are only a few dates that we will all be away but walking and playing with the two medium sized dogs is always encouraged. The tasks will very and we can always adjust to what works! I would love to take you on some hiking and camping trips so it won't always be Monday to Friday but as long as we know before hand you can take time off for trips, experiences and activities. We are asking for 3-5 hours per day 5 days a week though it may be less as it will be on an as needed basis!

  -Painting (If you are a skilled painter we have some projects coming up that I will be leading but would love your help :) Just some bedroom renovations and updates :)
  -Content Creation (I am an aspiring travel content creator and if you have any editing skills I would LOVE your help :p)
  -Dog Walking / Pet Sitting (When we are away at different times during the summer if you are staying all we would ask is you take care of our two kind golden doodles and take them on short walks around the beautiful walking paths)
  -Organizational (help us organize our shop that is FULL of tools and random things :p)
  -Language Exchange (help me to become more fluent in French or Spanish)
  
  Again, none of these tasks are mandatory! If there are some you dont like or are unable to do just let me know :P

  In our home we have a bedroom in the basement with a Queen bed. It was recently painted and redecorated (used to be my brothers room before he moved out!). There is a mini kitchen in the basement for you to use with a hot plate, fridge, sink ext. There are also 2 bathrooms as my room is also in the basement so even if we are both getting ready at the same time it is alright! We have a movie room in the basement and a living room I use to workout. Upstairs is the main living area and my parents bedroom which will be shared space but it is nice that we have our own space and entry door in the basement. There will be the opportunity to come stay with us at our Lakehouse as well which is farther outside of town. You would have your own room and the kitchen would be shared space. I will try to update all of the information and photos as soon as possible but was so excited I wanted to get the listing up!

  In the time off I recommend Sylvan Lake as a beautiful lakeside town with shops, restaurants, swimming and floating activities. In Red Deer area we have many walking paths. I would check out Edmonton and Calgary concerts coming up and if there are any you are interested in we could make the 1.5 hour trip there! Calgary Stampede is a HUGE rodeo that happens every year and is worldwide famous with many country artists. We also have a local stampede that is a bit cheaper and closer called the Ponoka Stampede! I am very excited for both events this year! The Big Valley Jamboree is a Country Music Festival which brings 25,000+ people every year as well and you can camp and party there! We are close to Kananaskis, Banff, Jasper and many amazing camping and hiking destinations. We have a small lake behind our property and canoes and kayaks so I would encourage anyone outdoorsy to come visit and explore!

  We have a dedicated office you can use and good Wifi.

  We have full sized trees around our property so we have more privacy. We have room for you to set up your campervan as well as still have access to a washroom and shower if you would prefer this space to our bedroom available. This would actually be an awesome way to stay and then also be able to camp and hike whenever!
