The time I spent with the family was a very refreshing and educational experience for me.
This was the first time I spent time with a family with young children, and I could experience how to raise children and what a family is like.
My main work was preparing lunches and dinner on weekdays. If I can cook delicious food, that will be a plus.

I had a great time with the family! We had two weeks together and tons of fun🤗 Helen is a wealth of knowledge so be sure to tap that resource! If you find yourself there when the garden is blooming, you may be lucky enough to have chef Wren create one of her famous hors d'oeuvres complete with presentation points!! and always be ready to fly
… read more planes with Taiga (and get them down off of rooftops) 🤗. should you be visiting when Shun is home from shearing get ready for some of the best stories ever! I spent a lot of my stay belly laughing 😂
They are a busy house in close quarters but you always have your own space to go in between chores.
There are gorgeous botanical gardens just a few minutes from the house, as well as a fabulous beach walk about 10 minutes down the road. The shops and cafes downtown are super cute so you will have plenty to do if you don't have your own car.
I took a bus up to Lake Tekapo one weekend and stayed at a hostel, then bused back to Geraldine and hitched home no problem. Very safe and kind people in the towns.
Highly recommend hanging with this family!

Helen helped me when my tooth broke. Without her, she wouldn't be able to go to the dentist. Her hospitality is truly amazing. I learned how to cook a lot from her. I will never forget how to bake bread.
Shun was very humorous and we enjoyed many conversations in Japanese with him. We were greatly influenced by his way of life.
Taiga and Wren were very smart and energetic and always entertained us. It was a pleasure to spend time together. We hope they will visit our home. We are lucky to have met your family. Let's meet again.

… read more responsibility was to help get the children up in the morning, sort their packed lunch boxes and help with breakfast. I'd then clean up after they left and also clean up after dinner. Timaru is great for a wander and has good beaches. Helen was kind to also invite me to Christchurch at the weekend for a trip to the museum with the children. This was my first workaway and I could not of asked for a better experience! Helen was absolutely wonderful and an amazing cook! Stay with Family - Shun, Helen, Wren and Taiga was one of the most memorable memories I had in New Zealand! All of them are friendly, humorous and really made an effort to communicate to make you feel like part of the family.

Helen and Shun both are humble and humorous. They were more than happy to listen to your stories and share their views on travelling, parenting, cross cultural communication, languages… I learnt a lot during my time there.

Amber and Louis, initially were coming for 10 days and ended up stay with us close to 3 weeks! (that is a good thing!)
They have left us with plenty of jobs under our belt. Together, they dug new flower beds and laid a stone path. Turned the compost and weeded the veg patch. But by far the best thing about having them come to stay was Ambers
