I had an amazing time staying with Patrizia, Filippo and Daniele in Bormio. They were extremely welcoming and made me feel at home very quickly. Patrizia took me on some beautiful hikes and told me the best places to run and cycle so I got to know the area quickly and had a great time exploring the trails. When Filippo wasnt at school or ski
… read more training, he was often busy working on a new project - mainly building chicken coops and fixing motors in the garage, or playing with his friends. He was very cheerful and friendly. Both Patrizia and Filippo have excellent English. I wish my Italian and German had been better so I could've spoken with Daniele more easily and learnt more about skiing from him.
Some examples of jobs I helped with during my stay were feeding the cats, putting out the rubbish and recycling, picking and washing salad, preparing lunch, washing up, doing laundry and occasionally shopping.
It was my first experience au-pairing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Patrizia is extremely generous and kind. She taught me lots about the area and helped me get in touch with other au-pairs and locals in the area so I could spend some free time with them. I would highly recommend au-pairing with them in Bormio and wish I could've stayed longer!

Elise spent just few weeks with us last summer but it was an unforgettable experience and we built such a nice relationship that we are still often in touch. She joined the family during challenging hikes and bike tours especially during weekends and appreciated every single day and was always happy and positive even if we did our best to destroy her from the very beginning. Thank you Elise, it was a great pleasure to meet you!

I had the pleasure of spending a few weeks this July with Patrizia, Daniele and Filippo. Bormio is a beautiful town and July is a wonderful time to visit if you enjoy hiking, cycling, or escaping the hot summer temperatures that are the norm further south in Italy!
Patrizia is a very hardworking and inspiring woman. She does a lot of work looking
… read more after her family and is also an active member of the local community. She is very organised and clearly communicated my Workaway responsibilities prior to my arrival. It was helpful having a daily to-do list to stay on top of chores. She is also an excellent cook and I had the chance to learn how to make different Italian dishes while I stayed with her family. As an enthusiastic home cook myself, this was a great Workaway for me, since I had the chance to cook with local produce and practice cooking some Italian classics! It was also a great opportunity to see an Italian household in action with a functional cellar and the family tradition of sitting down to share a hot lunch and dinner each day. While I spoke mainly English with Patrizia and Filippo, I had the opportunity to practice more Italian with Daniele—especially during mealtimes. Mealtimes were also a great opportunity to learn more about Bormio's history and culture.
Filippo is a lot older now, and is fairly independent during the summer holidays. He would often go out cycling alone or with friends and spend time experimenting with motors in the garage. When he was around, I would speak English with him and try to help motivate him to do his summer homework. However most of my responsibilities were preparing lunch during the week and small household chores.
I was always included and invited to join in family activities should I wish. Since we shared a love of hiking, I had the joy of spending most weekends joining the family for hikes in the mountains and sometimes foraging for mushrooms. The highlight of the stay was accompanying Patrizia for the annual multi-day hike she organises for a group of children. I ran some simple lessons and games in English while hiking, and an artist friend of Patrizia's also accompanied the group and guided us in creating a different watercolour painting each day while hiking. It was a beautiful experience which I will remember fondly!
I am very grateful for having had such a warm welcome into Patrizia's family. It will be a happy day when we meet again!Esta pessoa escolheu manter o perfil privado, mas você pode entrar em contato a respeito de comentários deixados por outros workawayers.

My time with this family was my first workaway and aupair experience and it were wonderful two months. I was warmly welcomed and integrated into the family.
About the work:
The work required was as described and agreed and I was always able to fulfill it well. Patrizia gave me a plan with the daily tasks and a weekly schedule, which was very
… read more helpful. I mainly took care of keeping the kitchen tidy, cooking lunch, taking out the garbage and a few other small household chores, as well as reminding Filippo to do his homework. Patrizia also made sure that I never worked more than 25 hours a week, as agreed. For days with more work, I was given extra time off on other days. The weekends were also guaranteed to be free.
About life in the family:
The family is an outstanding example of hospitality. I had a cozy room with a private bathroom just for me. There was even a small mezzanine where I could do stretching exercises, yoga, meditation and so on. There were two hot meals a day. I cooked at lunchtime and Patrizia, the mother, cooked in the evening. She is an outstanding cook and I not only enjoyed excellent Italian food, but also learned a lot of new things from her. She pays a lot of attention to the origin of the ingredients, most of them are regional, seasonal and organic. When the family didn't eat at home, for example at family celebrations, I was always invited. I spent Christmas, New Year's Eve and other occasions with the Italian family, which was an enriching experience. The family also took me on excursions whenever possible and showed me something of the surrounding area. For example, I was able to explore Turin and Lake Como when they spent a weekend nearby. Patrizia also showed me cross-country skiing and ski touring. I immediately had a good connection with the parents Patrizia and Daniele and the communication was always very good. They are very nice, approachable, open, uncomplicated people with a big heart. Filippo is an active boy with a great polite, helpful side. But because he also has a very wild, independent side, he sometimes feels restricted by an aupair. I often needed patience here. All in all, however, I always felt very comfortable and at home with all the family members.
Free time activities:
The area where the family lives is beautiful and perfect for those who love mountains and winter sports. Bormio is a nice little town where there is more than you would expect from the number of inhabitants because it is a tourist town. There are several cafés, supermarkets and other stores and everything is within walking distance. The ski gondola to a large ski area is less than 5 minutes walk from the family and the family lent me ski equipment so I could ski every morning with ease, which I really enjoyed. At the weekend you can also take the bus to other ski resorts. Cross-country skiing is also possible nearby, as are ski touring, snowshoeing and ice skating. There are also hot springs whose water can be enjoyed in three thermal baths and in one place in nature. These were also absolute highlights of my stay. There are other families in the town who have aupairs, and the families arrange contact so that we could do things together.
I am incredibly grateful to Patrizia, Daniele and Filippo for the great time I had here and wish these wonderful people the very best for the future. I can only recommend this workaway experience!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I especially noticed how included I was when the family invited me to Liguria, where I could experience the beach and the peace it brings me.
Patrizia's and Daniele's son Filippo has become like my little brother. Like his parents, he is accomplished for his age. Filippo speaks English fluently and behaves mostly reliable and independent regarding appointments and projects. On top of that, he has a tremendous passion for freestyle sports, which I do admire! Of course, there are moments when he behaves like his age, for instance, throwing a tantrum because he needs to wait for his easter gifts. But these moments are short and do not outweigh Filippo's humorous and initiative persona.
Now that I am home again, I still think a lot about these memorable experiences, and I will always be grateful for them. I wish Patrizia, Daniele and Filippo all the best in life because they deserve it.

She also learned how to prepare fresh ravioli and a lot of Italian recipies! Our English level improved a lot during her stay and she also had the opportunity to learn some Italian even without going to school while spending her free time with the family.
Also she spent a lot of time doing outdoor activities with Filippo and friends during this weird pandemic times and shared with the family the passion for outdoor sports, especially ski mountaineering and x-country skiing.
She’s very calm and patient and very determinated and she’s always smiling and faces the life with positive attitude . Her high attention to the needs of people around her made her stay in our family a really unforgettable time.
I’d really recommend her for any kind of position.
