Everything is just so beyond my expectations through this first time workaway stay with Lisa.
Although she may not take volunteers throughout all year , things has been managed very well.
Good communication from her to always care about my feelings and what i need.
During my two week stay , nothing ever made me uncomfortable or feeling like an
… read more outsider of the family. And there is no pressure to get daily jobs done , very ideal for an independent kinda character to stay though. Kini is her son with a adorable and curious about whatever comes through personality. Someone a kid lover will definately enjoy having him around.
We had a video call before my arrival to make sure we feel comfortable with .
And she walked me home carrying one of my suitcases on the back seat of her bike.
Regarding the daily work, i can always have my own pace to get whatever should be done.
not a certain hours set ahead but good for self motivated person to take initiative.
I had sorted out some waste materials and had Lisa drive both of us to dump in a recyclable center.
Also relocated a good number of roof tiles to somewhere hidden in the yard.
Indoors,I managed to clean out the outdated wall papers remaining eversince in the kitchen to be ready to put on new plaster cover later on.
Every day routine is more like having breakfast together in the cozy yard after Lisa sent out her son to school. And around 10ish i got to get some work done while she may sort out something online.and shortly came with a lunch break again and till 4:30pm Kini would return home from school. And there is always a leisure happy hour time hanging out with his son Kini or next door boy ,Limo ,similar at his age. and after 9:00ish i may make use of my private time alone in my own room or simply chill out.
On weekends, Lisa made arrangements for kids and i am more than welcome to be part of such family events. We drove to some other city meeting her friends or hang around together.
Overall, it is absolutely a heartwarm family to live with and with more local flemish kinda culture to be involved. Appreciate again to Lisa and hope you all the best.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

It kind of became one of our little habits; as soon as summer turns into autumn, we have a new Workaway guest at our home. So there's always some melancholy involved... especially when we really enjoyed the time together and the guest became part of the family.
I couldn't really believe that this was actually Mike's first Workaway experience. We
… read more all know the feeling of having great friends staying at your home, but they mess up the whole household structure :-) Mike isn't like this at all. He has a sixth sense for paying attention to the unwritten structures, rules, habits of our little family. I adore the fact that he is so pro-active on 'small' things... taking in laundry when it starts raining (while I'm not at home), clean the kitchen after my son's birthday party, play with my son when I need some me-time,...
I guess Mike is capable of doing almost everything. I'm sure I could have introduced him into some more jobs, but I was lacking time and energy sometimes. He works independently, doesn't hesitate to ask things if the task is not clear, cleans up after work, works precise... For my son I can say that he will miss him a lot. They've enjoyed playing together a lot: building, play outside, ride bike, dance together, make jokes,... He actually likes Mike's fried rice better than mine (and his dancing) :-)
Bye summer, bye Mike... enjoy your next Workaway adventure!

When Sofia lived with us, she brought a happy creative sparkle in our daily life. A talented openminded girl that has no problem at all to settle in an already existing household.
She gave my son's room and my room a complete make over by painting a piece of art on the walls. Now we both have a unique room! And we will always remember here. :-)

It's been a few weeks now since we waved goodbye to Takashi. It became some sort of morning ritual: me and my son cycling to school/work and waving goodbye while cycling up the little hill next to our house.
But that day Takashi would not be there when returning from work... (sounds very dramatic...haha).

Thank you Takashi! Good luck on your trip!

I stayed with Lisa and Kini for one month.
As someone who has been using work away for a while, I can say with confidence that my time with Lisa and Kini was a highlight of my trip and one of the best hosts I've ever stayed with.

I've learned a lot from Kini~
Lisa's mother Marie Claire came to take care of kini and always asked me what I needed and took care of it too.
She always tried to speak to me in French because I saied to her that I was learning French :)
Jobs are varied and simple, mostly I worked alone.
It was cold sometimes but Lisa let me use outer jacket and gloves!
Inside (remove the paints and plaster) Outside (move the box of brick and cut the hedge)
She alwasy makes sure that I feel comfortable staying with them :)
Every night after dinner we watched the Japanese Ghibli movies together!
That was so cool!
literally I felt like I was a part of their family.
I was supposed to stay for 2 weeks but end up staying more than a month :D
Thank you very much Lisa, Kini, Marie Claire and other friends!!
I hope our paths will cross again in the future!!

Staying with Lisa and Kini was an absolute pleasure, and the perfect start to my WorkAway trip. Lisa is very open and easy going, and took me in at the very last minute! Kini is a very smart, talkative, fun loving and engaging boy who is also very good at playing alone when necessary. He added life and spice to the days. Lisa lives on the edge of

I also really enjoyed the freedom I had to figure out my own schedule. Most of the work I was able to do was in the garden as the weather was generally great. If you enjoy getting your hands dirty and can work well on your own, this is the place to be! And if the weather turns wet or cold, there is more than enough to do inside.
Most of all the food and company were great. I will miss the interesting discussions Lisa! I am very grateful for having been able to spend time with you and Kini as it has enriched my life. Hopefully our paths may cross again someday!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

We had Krister in our house for 3 weeks and it is really hard to let him go again! Not only he did some great work in our garden, but he was a perfect match with our tiny structured household. I have been for ten days with Lisa and Kini and i had a very good time.
They live in a peaceful area perfect to relax, think or read...
Also this is Belgium so it is easy to ride a bike and go to explore the surroundings easily and safely. She bought for me the most expensive bike in the charity shop so maybe yo could use it aswell haha.
Kini

She is creative and with sense of humour, and a very attentive person. If you dont complain about something, she will try to make you be honest, and probably you very honestly will reply "oh dont worry, it is perfect". For example, the tent is a tent but it is really confortable. I sleep better in it than in my own bed.
I strongly recomend this family, and i hope they can find the best workawayers to make their garden beatiful and to finish the works in the house.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I've had a great experience with Lisa and her little boy Kini! She made me feel at home and part of her family. The work is fun: mostly gardening and some renovation stuff. My first experience as a workaway host was kind of a last-minute decision. But the more than 3 weeks that followed were more than pleasant! Sebas became little part of this small family and it felt as it has always been like this… so he will be missed. With a 2,5 years old boy in the house it can get quite chaotic, so it was perfect that Sebas is

He helped me a lot with some dusty, hard and rather boring works like taking down a part of a brick wall in the house and clean the bricks to re-use them. The wilderness in the garden got less thanks to him chopping down some trees and using the small branches and leaves to cover the ground during winter. As he is a great guitar player and singer it was also his “job” to colour our days with his music :-)
I hope that despite the lonely days when I was at work, the basic and cold room he stayed in, the crappy guitar he had to use, the loud tears of my son during the night,… he enjoyed his time with us!
