First of all, thank you very much for each and every enquiry. Mia and I are still overwhelmed by the high number of very interesting offers and demands. So please understand, as we do not have wifi in our shed ;-) so, we can't or don't want to answer all requests. Please do also take your time to read all the infos here and try to read between the lines! ;-)
We are Mia and Sunam - a cat and a male goat - living on a FUTURE educational farm in Ginetes (Sao Miguel, Acores). As we enjoy the view of the sea, we watch an ecological community growing around us. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean (Região Autónoma dos Açores, Portugal), the caring people who own us, create a natural retreat and you can, just as well, become a part of this.
Our owners are looking to provide additional shelter for us animals and a living space for future project members, as well as workawayers. The planting of a permaculture garden, a food forest and the construction of a barn house and an earthship are being planned. With sustainable management and organic farming, we want to demonstrate that security of supply can be guaranteed even on a small surface area if people work together in harmony with nature and with us animals. The development of a revitalizing and solidarity-based agricultural oasis will be at the heart of the project. They also encourage guests to participate in our food forest project to make arrivals and departures as nature-friendly as possible. In the near future, they try also to switch to an environmentally friendly energy supply with the help of renewable energies as well as low-tech solutions such as the creation of a natural swimming pool, a plant-based purification system or a small biogas dome - sustainable and productive change begins in everyday life. In addition to therapeutic and educational offers (we make use of methods of experiential nature education, among others) our human friends want to offer space for culture and research... In this way they want to contribute to the building of a sustainable global community. For example, they offer free accommodation in return for your help. They welcome all support, whether financial or through active participation.

Volunteering abroad is a very intensive form of stay abroad, where you immerse yourself deeply in a foreign culture and experience another country and its inhabitants first-hand. Volunteering abroad often gives the impression that it is primarily about helping. In reality, however, the focus is on working closely with the locals and on intercultural exchange. Together with your hosts, you work towards a better future for your host country or even the planet. This creates a cultural exchange at eye level, from which both sides benefit. You don't have to save the world or the local people during your volunteer work, but the intercultural exchange alone creates an enormous value for everyone involved.
The development of a revitalizing, solidarity-based oasis is at the heart of this project. Thus we have already created a small orchard, set up raised vegetable beds, and a children's playground. Together we are designing a refuge for those who want to strengthen their connection to Mother Earth. In a relaxed and peaceful environment we sustainably manage two acres of land.
Join in on this hollistic vision and introduce your own ideas on sustainability. We are excited about gaining more independance in terms of our energy and water supplies, but there is so much more to discover. Share your thoughts on ecological building, natural medicine, free education or anything else on your mind.

At present, the farm still consists of a small single house made of wood. There is the possibility to either stay in a small veranda room or to camp. Kitchen, bathroom and living room can be shared.
Thermal natural pools of Ferraria and sand beaches of Mosteiros very nearby!
Perhaps it should also be mentioned that we only offer accommodation in return for 4-5 hours of work per day.
