    Descrição

I’m Alex. I grew up around and recently moved back to run it full time.

We have 26 cabins and around 150 hectares of protected rainforest where the Misahuallí and Napo rivers meet. I spent years working in sustainability and climate projects, and now I’m trying to bring that experience back here.

There is a lot to improve: trails, gardens, water and waste systems, renewable energy, guest experience and biodiversity documentation. Some days are organized, some days are very Amazon.

We work with a local team from Misahuallí and nearby Kichwa communities. I’m looking for people who are curious, practical and want to help with real projects, not just pass through.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

Most of the cultural exchange happens naturally through daily life here.

You’ll spend time with our local team and guides, practice Spanish, learn about the rivers, plants, food and everyday life in Misahuallí, and depending on the week, you may also have the chance to learn more about Kichwa culture and nearby communities.

There’s a lot of practical knowledge here that you won’t get from a guidebook — from local ingredients like cacao and guayusa to how people work, travel and live around the river and forest.

We also want to learn from the people who stay with us. If you bring experience from another country or a different way of doing things, we’re interested in that too.

  • Ajuda

    Ajuda

We’re looking for people who want to help with real projects around the lodge and forest.

The help depends a lot on your skills. Right now that could mean helping in the chakra and food gardens, improving trails, documenting plants and wildlife, working on compost, water or waste systems, helping with sustainability ideas, or improving signs and guest information.

If you have experience with permaculture, biology, engineering, solar, bee farming, hospitality, photography, video or design, even better.

Some days are physical and outdoors, others are more about research, planning or documenting. We normally try to match people with something they are actually good at instead of giving everyone the same jobs.

You’ll be helping our local team, and the idea is to add useful projects and ideas, not replace paid staff.

The Amazon is unpredictable, so flexibility helps.

Yes, please. English and Spanish are both spoken at the lodge, and daily life in Misahuallí also gives Workawayers the chance to hear and learn words and expressions from Kichwa speakers in the surrounding communities. For anyone learning Spanish, this is a good place to practice naturally with our team, guides and people in town. We are also happy to help with conversation and everyday vocabulary. At the same time, we enjoy learning from the languages and expressions Workawayers bring from their own countries. Language exchange here is informal and happens through meals, projects, conversations and daily life rather than structured classes.

  • Acomodação

    Acomodação

Workawayers stay at the lodge in a proper room with a bed, bedding and bathroom access. Accommodation depends on availability, but it is clean, secure and on the property.

We have electricity, Wi-Fi in some areas, a swimming pool and common spaces.

Meals are included and usually come from the lodge kitchen. We use local ingredients when we can. Let us know in advance about allergies or dietary restrictions.

We are on an island in the Amazon, so expect humidity, insects, rain and plenty of jungle sounds.

Puerto Misahuallí is just a short canoe ride away for shops, pharmacies and transport to Tena.

  • Algo mais...

    Algo mais...

On your days off there’s plenty to do around Misahuallí. You can swim in the rivers, visit waterfalls, go tubing or rafting, explore trails, visit nearby communities or just spend time in town.

Puerto Misahuallí is only a short canoe ride away and has restaurants, shops, pharmacies and local transport. Tena is also easy to reach.

Life here is tropical and a little unpredictable. Expect heat, rain, insects, mud and plenty of jungle noise.

We ask everyone to respect the local team, guests, wildlife, forest and surrounding communities, and to help keep shared spaces clean.

People who enjoy it most here are usually independent, curious and flexible.

Digital nomads are welcome. We have Wi-Fi in some areas of the lodge and quiet places to work, including common spaces overlooking the river and forest. The connection is generally fine for normal remote work, but this is still the Amazon and it can occasionally be unstable. We can usually organize helping hours so you still have time for your own work. If your job depends on very fast or uninterrupted internet, just let us know before coming.
