I live in the Lake District 3m from Kendal, a bus journey from mountains & lakes. I work on creative arts projects including making carnival structures for events. I work in Schools & colleges and well being work takes me into groups for people affected by cancer, alzheimer's, mental health issues, & homelessness. I work with groups of vulnerable people, therefore a good level of English is required as well as self motivation and life experience. Most projects are in the summer, it is quieter here in the winter. I enjoy vegan, vegetarian and any healthy options. I work towards a positive exchange experience so that we all enjoy learning from one another. This is more achievable when there is a cultural exchange. We work hard, volunteers find it enjoyable and rewarding, we have a flexible timetable depending on project demands. We welcome genuine workaways, WE ARE NOT A STEPPING STONE FOR MOVING TO THE LAKE DISTRICT OR THE U.K. We can’t accommodate dogs, we are surrounded by sheep and have 3 cats who live happily here. We require cooking and looking after the home & cats. The house is a cold country house in the winter and if you feel the cold it's not advisable for you to come at this time of year, especially as the cost of utilities has risen so much recently. We welcome the hardy and the hard working who are happy to muck in without always having to be asked as some things are just part of living in and sharing a happy home together.

So, I was initially supposed to stay at Donna’s for 10 days, I ended up staying almost 2 months (including the second lockdown) which I guess is quite representative of the way I felt there.
Due to covid she didn’t have any art project running I could help with, but you can still feel the arty vibe floating in her beautiful place, especially if you get to see the well-known end-room ☺ It’s such an environnement conducive to the creation.
What’s more, the Lake District is a stunning area, incredible Nature !

{Work} She’s very flexible about everything, you can organize your days as you want as long as the work is done of course. The only thing you need is self-motivation and great energy. The work I’ve been doing there was very diverse, housework, painting, cleaning, sort of reorganizing and clearing living spaces, helping with shopping, leafletting (!!!!), healthy cooking, sorting things out…a bit of everything ! It didn’t feel like working at all to be fair as I was actually really enjoying all these littles jobs. Donna gives you so much in a humane way that you genuinely want to work hard for her! Valeria, Ingrid and I did a photoshoot in order to sell some vintage dresses she had, what a moment !! Vale and I also created a yoga area in the living room, hope you’ll get to see our beautiful handmade altar haha !

{Accommodation } Absolute luxury, you’ll feel like a proper guest !

{Food} What a blast it was to create amazing dishes with all these great products, this is the right place to become a blossomed cook haha, and to boost your immune system !!!

Yes I know, it could sound a bit suspicious as I don’t have any single bad thing to say about this place or my stay. I swear, I haven’t been paid to write this haha, everything was just absolutely amazing and precious.

I’m actually full of great memories, when I think about it now I only have warm and comforting images popping in my mind….so hard to sum it up here, well let me tell you about a few : 3 lovely cats, unexpected and exciting adventures up on the fells of the Lake District (stuff you can’t forget about… !), movie nights, inspiring, genuine and lovely people, card games by the fire (with dark chocolate of course), great music around, discussions as I like them, shelves full of captivating books to read…ohh I feel like I could go on forever ! I guess it’s all about sharing stuff, as simple as that.
