Chlorella was a delight to host! She is fun, smart, interesting, and willing to work on new kinds of projects. She did a lot of gardening working work while she was with me. I can whole heartedly recommend Chlorella as a workaway volunteer. In the short time she stayed, we became friends and enjoyed many interesting conversations together.
… read more Chlorella also has a background in Chinese Chisel Therapy; she travels with her mallet tool. It was wonderful to experience this kind of therapy from a professional. Some of her workaway time for me included her skilled Chisel therapy. Thanks again Chlorella; I hope to visit you in China someday!

In just one week, we’ve already become great friends, joking around with each other freely. He even took me to parties, and every evening at home felt like a live concert . Roger would play spontaneous piano solos, exactly the kind of music and style I love. I’ve started to fall in love with this picturesque town with its perfect climate, and I truly cherish the time we’ve spent together.
I’d love to invite you to come visit China. I want to return the favor by showing you more of my city and explore more places together. Wishing you a wonderful trip in Turkey! ^_^

Lisa and Frank were lovely guests who loved to cook and keep the house tidy. While at my home they did yard work and cooked a lot of delicious Chinese meals. His house was extremely welcoming as well and the city of Santa Cruz is just the best place you can find to spend some real “Californian time”: it is near the Ocean and with a vibrant community of people that offers a lot of little events, meetings and activities. If you are just willing to go out and look for them you'll fell the special vibes of Santa Cruz!
We did more things in 2 weeks there than in 2 months at home!
The work that Roger gave us to do was good for us, we learned how to paint and then we tried our best to make his house look the best possible, which was challenging and rewarding!
The best thing overall was the connection we felt with Roger under different levels. It's so amazing how you can meet a person so compatible with you on the other side of the planet: we hiked, played, cooked and sang all together like we had been friends for years! We will always be thankful for all the time we spent together!

A friend and me stayed with Roger for a month and we had a blast !
We worked on many different projects so our work stayed exciting and fun. He even trusted us with building a trellis while my friend and me never did carpentry, now we do !

Roger is super generous with his beautiful home (and now garden !). He made sure we didn't have anything short.
He took us to many beautiful places in Santa Cruz and allowed us to use his bikes to get around town.
He introduced us to many of his friends and took us to his friends gatherings which was amazing :)
Santa Cruz is an awesome city which has something for everyone. You're within biking distance to the whole city and the beach (perfect for sunset viewing) !
It's only my second workaway but I'm certain this one will be in my top experiences.
