Hi, we are Felicity and Edgar and we run a beautiful farm with it’s own private beach! Surfing, fishing, sunbathing, mountain biking and amazing hiking all from our farm’s doorstep. Not to mention unlimited internet and the perfect location to have as a base to explore the rest of the beautiful Coromandel!
Our Farm is a 50 hectare coastal farm that works gently with nature. We are looking for extra support to help with some personal projects on the farm, they are not related to the business. The work we need help with is related to the homeowner’s personal home e.g: in the orchard is essentially a hobby orchard and no orchard produce is sold. Other work would be related to conservation projects, predator control and our native tree planting initiative .
Our farm is 10 minutes from Whangamata - a very popular NZ seaside town. We are rural so you will ideally have your own vehicle to get into town and travel around. We are the perfect base for you to explore the beautiful Coromandel.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Our location is a New Zealand owned and managed farm with a long term vision of being totally sustainable. Projects towards this aim include restoration of waterways, predator control. By living and working on some of our projects you will have the opportunity to learn and be involved in helping us achieve our vision.
There are also opportunities to explore the local area and meet the local community.Ajuda
Typical help would involve wood splitting, weeding, native tree maintenance, chipping, spreading wood chip, planting, pruning.
We are converting an old citrus orchard into a more diverse temperate and sub-tropical food system using syntropic agroforestry principles. So if you have a background in this or are interested in learning more with us, then we could be a good fit!
We have identified paddocks that we want to convert back to native NZ forest, so if this is something you’re interested in you’ll get to see areas that are 3 years and 2 years old and help with preparing and planting out our next areas.Idiomas

Acomodação
You will be staying in a self-contained 1-bedroom cottage that is on a hill overlooking the farm with sea views! This will be your own private house - you may be sharing this space with other workaway helpers staying in the adjacent 'Helisuite' which is a large room with its own bathroom and kitchenette but using the cooking facilities in the cottage.. You will have access to a full kitchen, laundry, bathroom with shower and toilet, open plan kitchen and living area. We would provide full provisions for your meals if helping 4 hours, 5 days a week.
We have plenty of room if you have your own vehicle or caravan to park up.
As it is a rural area you would need to have your own transport to get to the farm and explore the local area..Algo mais...
Whangamata is famous for its unique combination of beach and rainforest, Whangamata's amazing ocean beach provides some of the best surfing breaks, yet safest swimming in the country. A number of off-shore islands can be seen from the beach. Hauturu or Clark Island is accessible by wading at low tide and is popular in summer months for rock-pool fossickers and kayakers. Whenuakura, sometimes known as Donut Island, sits about a kilometre east of the southern part of Whangamata beach (Otahu Beach). Whenuakura Island has a large collapsed blow hole which has formed a small beach inside the island - hence the alternative name.
The Coromandel Forest Park bordering the town provides many outdoor experiences, including short walks, mountain bike trails and old gold mining sites. The town also has one of the best shopping centres in the region.
Whangamata Golf Course is only 20 mins drive away and offers the picturesque 18-hole Titoki course located on the outskirts of Whangamata or the 9-hole Williamson course in the heart of the town.
Whangamata Mountain Bike Park is only 10 minutes from our farm. The park offers something for everyone, from the first-time rider to experts looking to be challenged.
The Coromandel Peninsula is on our doorstep and there are plenty of ways to explore it, be it by land, sea, or air. Transportation options around The Coromandel include ferry, bus, shuttle tours, cycling, car rental & even motorbike rental.Mais alguns detalhes
