  Hello.
  
  I am Damián, I am a native of the Kichwa culture, therefore I live in Kichwa territory. I speak the Kichwa language as my first language, Spanish as my second language and intermediate English.
  
  I was always extremely shy, so I have formed myself in character, through physical training, music and the trips that I undertook, breaking the closest borders, giving way to Bolivia first and then with the travel bug I went to Peru, then to Colombia, as everyone knows this was not going to stop, so when I finished my university studies in Tourism, I traveled to Taiwan where I spent two years as a teacher in an American school, then I went to visit: Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, until I decided to go to Seville, Spain to study a master in anthropology.
  
  As we indigenous people say, we always receive the call of our roots, so I felt that the trips had given me so much knowledge that it was necessary to return to my roots to execute what I had learned, strengthening the culture and its elements, such as: gastronomy, spirituality, language, celebrations, forms of cultivation and construction of houses, all this in a friendly way.
  
  I think that paternal instinct has also played its part since I am the father of two children with whom I want to happily share our way of life as Kichwas but open to learning the good things that undoubtedly exist outside in the world. They spend 50% with me on the farm: the first is 8 years old, he studies in a little school with the Waldorf method, he also trains Taekwondo and is fluent in English, Spanish and Kichwa, the second has just turned 3 years old and also goes with English first followed by Kichwa.
  
  Strategically in communication with my children we have ruled out Spanish, since being the dominant language in Ecuador it quickly gains space. They really enjoy field activities since for us it is a combination of fun and responsibility.
  
  Right now I understand that I have learned to manage my shyness, knowing that at some point it can get out of control, since many people do not think I am shy. Even more so when I am a musician and I have had to deal with crowds.

  Soy Damián, soy un nativo de la cultura Kichwa, por lo tanto vivo en territorio Kichwa. hablo el idioma Kichwa como primer idioma, el español como segundo idioma y el inglés intermedio.
  
  Siempre fui extremadamente tímido, así que me he auto formado en carácter, a través del entrenamiento físico, la música y los viajes que emprendí rompiendo las fronteras más cercanas, dando paso a Bolivia primero y luego ya con el bichito del viaje fuí a Perú, luego a Colombia, como todos saben esto no iba a parar, así que al culminar mis estudios universitarios de Turismo, viaje a Taiwán a dónde pasé dos años como docente en un colegio americano, luego fui a recorrer: Vietnam, Camboya, Japón, hasta que decidí pasar Sevilla España a estudiar un máster en antropología.
  
  Como decimos los indígenas, siempre nos llega el llamado de nuestras raíces, así que sentí que los viajes me habían dado tanto conocimiento que era necesario volver a mis raíces a ejecutar lo aprendido fortaleciendo la cultura y sus elementos, como: gastronomía, espiritualidad, idioma, celebraciones , formas de cultivo y construcción de casas, todo esto de forma amigable.
  
  Creo que el instinto paternal también ha hecho su parte ya que soy padre de dos hijos a quienes quiero compartir con felicidad nuestra forma de vida como Kichwas pero abiertos a aprender las cosas buenas que sin duda existen afuera en el mundo. Ellos pasan el 50% conmigo en la granja: el primero tiene 8 años estudia en una escuelita con el método Waldorf, también entrena Taekwondo y domina el inglés, español y Kichwa, el segundo acaba de cumplir 3 años y también va con el inglés en primer lugar seguido del Kichwa.
  
  Estratégicamente en la comunicación con mis hijos lo hemos descartado el español, ya que al ser el idioma dominante en Ecuador gana espacio rápidamente. Ellos disfrutan mucho de las actividades del campo ya que para nosotros es una combinación de diversión y responsabilidad.
  
  Ahora mismo entiendo que mi timidez lo he aprendido a manejar, sabiendo que en algún momento se puede descontrolar, ya que mucha gente no me cree tímido. Más aún cuando soy músico y he tenido que lidiar ante multitudes.

  Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

  The volunteer experiences a true cultural exchange here in the Ecuadorian Andes, in the Kichwa community of Tunibamba, Cotacachi. They learn ancestral wisdom: how to live in harmony with the land, build with mud and cangahua (a type of volcanic rock), cultivate in harmony with the climate, care for animals, and live sustainably.
  
  We share traditions, language, music, gastronomy, and Andean worldview. They don't just come to help—they come to experience a way of life. We walk in the forest, work together, eat together, and talk at sunset with guitar music and coffee. Here, they are not visitors; they are part of the family.
  
  I also learn from them: their culture, their worldview, their knowledge. It is a mutual exchange of roots and ways of seeing life. They take away not only experience but also a different way of being in the world.
  
  The greatest lesson is understanding that we can be united in this diverse world.

  El voluntario vive aquí un verdadero intercambio cultural en los Andes ecuatorianos, en la comunidad Kichwa de Tunibamba, Cotacachi. Aprende la sabiduría ancestral: cómo convivir con la tierra, construir con barro y cangahua, cultivar en armonía con el clima, cuidar animales y vivir de forma sostenible.
  
  Compartimos tradiciones, lengua, música, gastronomía y cosmovisión andina. No solo vienen a ayudar — vienen a vivir una forma de vida. Caminamos en el bosque, trabajamos juntos, comemos juntos, conversamos al atardecer con guitarra y café. Aquí no son visitantes, son parte de la familia.
  
  Yo aprendo también de ellos: su cultura, su visión del mundo, sus conocimientos. Es intercambio mutuo de raíces y formas de ver la vida. Se llevan no solo experiencia, sino una forma distinta de estar en el mundo.
  El mejor aprendizaje, es entender que podemos estar unidos en este mundo tan diversos.

  There are many elements that can be adjusted to the project which I have no idea, an example is Yoga, I only understood when I saw visitors who practiced it and mentioned that the place was appropriate.
  
  I need them to be flexible since schedules are not strictly managed in Western terms due to different factors. One of them, the climate, as well as cultural situations, considering that the perception of time in the community is different.
  Here we handle ourselves with the fact that there are always things to learn.

  Busco personas que tengan la voluntad más que la experiencia para trabajos en el mantenimiento del huerto regenerativo permacultural, cuidado de cerdos, manipulación del barro para bio-construcciones, mantenimiento de jardines, arreglo de cercas. procesamiento de productos y venta, colaboración en los quehaceres domésticos, publicidad en plataformas y redes sociales, distribución, adecuación y decoración de espacios, ejemplo : Yoga y café.
  Cabe recalcar que nos proyectamos a que la granja sea un modelo de desarrollo sostenible y turístico utilizando sus elementos con respeto.
  
  Hay muchos elementos que se pueden ajustar al proyecto las cuales no tengo idea, un ejemplo es el Yoga, solo entendí cuando ví visitantes que lo practicaban y mencionaban que el lugar era el adecuado.
  
  Necesito que sean flexibles ya que los horarios no se manejan estrictamente en términos occidentales por diferentes factores. Uno de ellos, el climático, asi como situaciones culturales, considerando que la percepción del tiempo en la comunidad es diferente.
  Aquí nos manejamos con que siempre hay cosas por aprender.

  Acomodação

  The accommodation is a 4x5m room with exposed brick walls, ceramic tile flooring, and a bamboo roof. It has two large windows: one facing the front and one facing the side, offering views of the front garden, the Imbabura volcano, and the town center of Cotacachi. It features a private patio with a table and hammock under a roof, providing a spectacular view. The room includes two light bulbs and fiber optic internet. It is located 10 meters from the communal road, past the car park. A rustic tilapia pond with aquatic plants and lighting is located 3 meters down the terrace in front of the room. The room is 12 meters from the main house but 4 meters above ground level due to the topography of Tunibamba and the Andes Mountains. This elevation helps maintain privacy without needing to close the curtains, thus preserving the privileged view from the room. It is important to note that the room does not have a private bathroom. The bathroom and shower with hot water are located 30 meters away in the camping area and 7 meters across the patio inside the house in the common area. The area is considered very safe, so we've never used keys, but the volunteer can use them for added security. The public road has streetlights. The nearest neighbors are across the street, 50 meters away, and the other is my sister, who lives 50 meters further up, behind the room. The place isn't completely isolated, so there's a steady flow of small and large cars entering and leaving the community, which helps with mobility.
  
  In this community, it's common not to have walls, but there's ample space designed for enjoyment, allowing a sense of freedom and privacy thanks to the terraced Andean topography and vegetation.
  The room has good natural light, receiving the early morning sun through the large windows and electric lighting at night. The garden is illuminated, making it pleasant to go outside and enjoy the evenings. It has a double mattress, a nightstand, a reading lamp, and a wardrobe. Due to the proximity of the water channel and the surrounding vegetation, there are many mosquitoes, so we've installed mosquito nets. Due to the proximity of the water channel and being surrounded by vegetation, there could be mosquitoes, for which we adapted with awnings. Without a doubt the room will be a comfort zone.
  
  Regarding meals, we have no restrictions; there are three meals a day: breakfast at 8:00, lunch at 12:00, and an afternoon snack at 6:00. Thanks to our travels, we've learned to include a coffee break, either Western-style or herbal tea. If you are vegetarian or vegan, we can accommodate your dietary needs, but please remember that this is a farm. We can take turns preparing the food to ensure a variety of flavors and enriching experiences. Because of my life in other countries, my dishes are varied yet simple.

  El alojamiento es una habitacion de 4x5m. de ladrillo visto, piso de cerámica, techo de bambú, con dos ventanas grandes ; una frontal y otra lateral que permiten ver el jardín frontal, el volcan Imbabura y el centro de la ciudad de Cotacachi, tiene un patio privado con su mesa y hamaca bajo el techo con una vista espectacular, cuenta con dos focos e internet fibra óptica . Está ubicada a 10 metros del camino comunal, luego del garage para coches, en frente a 3metros terraza abajo está un estanque rustico de tilapia con plantas acuáticas e iluminación. La habitación está a 12 metros frente a la casa principal pero a 4 metros de altura por la topografía de Tunibamba y los andes, lo que ayuda a tener privacidad sin la necesidad de cerrar las cortinas para no perder la vista privilegiada desde la habitación. Cabe recalcar que la habitación no tiene baño privado. El baño y la ducha con agua caliente están; uno en el área de campamento a 30 metros y otro cruzando el patio a 7 metros dentro de la casa en el área común .
  El sector es considerado muy seguro por lo que nunca hemos utilizado llaves, pero el voluntario puede hacer uso para mayor seguridad. El camino público tiene iluminación pública , los vecinos más cercanos están cruzando la calle a 50m, y la otra es mi hermana que vive a 50 m más arriba detrás de la habitación. El lugar no es totalmente aislado por lo que hay afluencia de carros pequeños y grandes que entran y salen de la comunidad, está misma ayuda a la movilidad.
  
  En la comunidad es normal no tener muros , pero hay suficiente espacio diseñada para el disfrute sintiendo la libertad y la privacidad por la topografía del suelo andino tipo terrazas y la vegetación.
  La habitación tiene buena iluminación natural, recibe los primeros soles por las ventanas grandes y por las noches por electricidad, tiene el jardín iluminado lo que hace placentero salir a disfrutar de las noches, tienen un colchón matrimonial , una mesita de noche, lampara de lectura , y un guarda ropa. Por la cercanía del canal del agua y el estar rodeado de vegetación podrían haber mosquitos para lo cual adaptamos con toldos. Sin duda la habitación será una zona de confort.
  Respecto a las comidas, no tenemos ninguna restricción, son tres comidas por día, Desayuno a las 8:00, almuerzo a las 12:00 y merienda a la 6:00. Debido a nuestros viajes hemos aprendido a incluir la hora del café al estilo occidental o una aromática. Si usted es vegetariano o vegano podemos ajustarlo a su realidad, pero recuerde que es una granja. Podemos turnamos en preparar los alimentos para tener sabores y experiencias enriquecedoras. Por la vida que he llevado en otros países, mis platos son variados, pero sencillos.

  In matters of religion, I simply consider myself spiritual, at this time I have overcome my problems with the Catholic religion with whom I had a strong crisis when understanding my history.
  
  My mother is Catholic and 95% of the community consider themselves Catholic. I just learned to respect them even if I don't share them.
  
  In their free time, the volunteer can go out to the city to visit the different specialty cafes that are very popular with expats, international food restaurants and traditional food courts. Likewise, on Saturdays you can visit the indigenous craft fair in Otavalo, visit the Peguche waterfall, visit the Cuicocha lagoon, in the afternoon go to the Chachimbiro hot springs, simply go for a walk along the slope and the sacred site known as the temple of the sun and the slope on the communal property, as well as distract yourself by watching a program or social networks, since the internet connection is fiber optic.
  The work will be carried out 90% in conjunction with me and visiting the sites in your free time could guide you 50% to facilitate mobility, especially to places without a bus line such as the Cuicocha lagoon or the Chachimbiro or Nalgulvi hot springs, always in an agreement to respect your freedom to explore.

  En temas de religión, simplemente me considero espiritual, a esta hora he superado mis problemas con la religión católica con quien tuve una fuerte crisis al entender mi historia.
  
  Mi madre es católica y el 95% de la comunidad se consideran como católicos. Yo solo aprendí a respetarlas aunque no las comparta.
  
  El voluntario en su tiempo libre puede salir a la ciudad a visitar los distintos cafés de especialidad que son muy concurridos por los expats, restaurantes de comida internacional y patios de comida tradicional. Así mismo los Sábados puede visitar la feria artesanal indígena en Otavalo, visitar la cascada de Peguche, visitar la laguna de Cuicocha, por la tarde ir a las termas de Chachimbiro, simplemente salir a caminar por la vertiente y el sitio sagrado conocido como templo del sol y la vertiente en la propiedad comunal, así como distraerse mirando algún programa o redes sociales, ya que la coneccion a internet es de fibra óptica.
  Los trabajos se realizarán en un 90% en conjunto conmigo y recorrer los sitios en su tiempo libre podría guiarle en un 50% para facilitar la movilidad, especialmente a lugares sin linea de buses como la laguna de Cuicocha o las termas de Chachimbiro o de Nalgulvi, siempre en un acuerdo para respetar su libertad de explorar.
  
  Nuestra granja está a 10 minutos en taxi del centro de Cotacachi y a 30 minutos caminando. Desde nuestra propiedad se puede observar la cuidad, resaltando la arquitectura de la iglesia la Matriz.
  Las tarifas de taxis son de 2$ del centro de Cotacachi a permaculture farm, pero si de la comunidad toma un taxi que va retornando a la ciudad es de 0,5$,
  Los buses tienen una tarifa de 30 centavos pero dejan a 200 metros de la granja. Los taxis y trasportes privados si pueden entrar hasta la granja.

  Vivo en el campo pero no es muy aislado, es tan solo a 10 minutos en coche del centro de la ciudad, tengo aproximadamente dos hectáreas de espacio entra áreas de cultivo, jardines y construcción, tengo un área de camping a dónde están baños y ducha con agua caliente, tengo internet con fibra óptica y espacios privados. Tengo garage para coches.

  Vivo en el campo y tengo un gato y dos perros que son tranquilos, siempre hay duda del instinto animal ya que aquí siempre viven libres. Bajo esa responsabilidad no hay ningún otro problema.
