It was a really great experience to host Paul. He is a honest, responsible and hard-working person. It is great to have someone you can count on and who works completely independently. Paul was a great help and he is also very good company. I highly recommend him!

I had a wonderful week here. Catherine was a super friendly, hospitable, and generous host. She was so easy to spend time with and I am lucky to have her as a friend. The work was reasonable, and I felt useful throughout my stay. Catherine forgave me my errors and appreciated my work when it turned out well.
I stil feel very uncomfortable after this experience.

A lovely normand villa close to the sea and in the center of the village in which you are welcomed by Catherine, her mum and her pets. She is an energetic, bubbly and positiv woman, having always lot of projects. The main task is taking care of her lovely mum who had a stroke and is bedbound but she has kept her sense of humour and likes to laugh.

As Catherine was very busy at the time of my stay, I helped also with the laundry, watering the garden (yes it is also hot in Normandy), prepping up the various objects for a fleamarket in town, selling them…

J'ai passé une petite semaine agréable en bord de mer entre les balades et les visites sur l'histoire de la Normandie.
Catherine est une hôte très sympathique qui fait en sorte que l'on se sente à l'aise .
Il faut cependant s'adapter un peu au rythme de la maison car Monique, la maman de Catherine vit également dans la maison et reçoit
… read more la visite d'infirmières matin et soir. En général le travail ce fait l'après midi pour laisser Monique dormir le matin. J'ai pu passer du temps avec elle ( elle sera ravie de vous montrer l'album photo de son mari, ancien journaliste qui a rencontré des stars de l'époque! ). J'ai également fait du ménage et éplucher beaucoup de légumes! Mais si vous avez quelques talents particuliers vous pourrez faire de la peinture, rénover certains meubles et pourquoi pas cuisiner des plats délicieux pour Monique et Catherine qui sont très gourmandes!
Arromanches est une toute petite ville mais avec quelques touristes venant chaque jour découvrir le musée du port artificiel qui a été construit pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, le cinéma 360 composé d'images d'archives... Il n'y a cependant que très peu de bus donc vous risquez d’être dépendant de la voiture de Catherine. Mais vous pouvez faire de belles balades le long de la falaise ( c'est ce que j'ai préféré ! ).
Catherine a également un cheval qui n'a plus trop l'habitude d’être monté mais si vous êtes bon cavalier vous pourrez faire de belles balades après quelques cours de " remise en forme ".

I spent a nice week at the seaside between walks and visits on the history of Normandy.
Catherine is a very friendly host who makes us feel at home.
However, we must adapt a little to the rhythm of the house because Monique, Catherine's mother also lives in the house and receives the visit of nurses in the morning and the evening. In general, the work is done in the afternoon in order to let Monique sleep in the morning. I spent time with her (she will be happy to show you the pictures done by her husband, an old journalist who met stars!). I also cleaned and peeled a lot of vegetables! But if you have some special talents you can paint, renovate some furnitures and why not cook delicious dishes for Monique and Catherine who are very greedy!
Arromanches is a very small town but with a few tourists coming every day to discover the museum of the artificial port which was built during the second world war, the 360 cinema made up of archival images ... There are however only very few buses so you risk being dependent on Catherine's car. But you can make beautiful walks along the cliff (that's what I preferred!).

Catherine was my first workaway host, and I loved the experience. I learned so much about the local area, the history and also about the projects Catherine is always working on! I was tasked with a variety of projects to help with, including computer work, household chores, small DIY fixing projects, assembling and disassembling furniture etc.

I met so many amazing people through the connection made with Catherine and I ABSOLUTELY and THOROUGHLY enjoyed my time with her! Anyone looking for a host should absolutely reach out, this was a life changing experience for sure! The town is beautiful, the people are amazing, and the food was FANTASTIC! I really felt welcomed into her home and hope that my work was compensation enough for the amazing experience I've had. Never hesitate to ask questions. Sometimes they can get very busy and focused on their tasks. It's important to look around and see what else you can do in the care of the household, as they appreciate every bit of effort. Nadia's cooking is off the charts!
As they are close to the beach and bus stop, you'll have lots of opportunity to explore the area and region.
