    My name is Katrin. I have been living on Fuerteventura since 2011 and on this finca since 2015.

    What I love most about this place is the peaceful atmosphere, the open landscape and the incredible ocean views and sunsets on the west coast of the island. Life here is connected to nature, with fresh air, quiet surroundings and a slower rhythm away from mass tourism.

    One of the most special things here is the amazing night sky. The area is part of a protected starlight zone, so on clear nights you can see countless stars and the Milky Way very clearly. Right next door there is also a horse and animal rescue sanctuary, which adds to the peaceful and unique atmosphere of the area.

    The finca is also largely self-sufficient, with electricity provided 100% by solar and wind energy. Living here is closely connected to nature and the elements, with an intention to live more consciously and sustainably.

    Over the past years, many trees have been planted, a garden has been created, and the finca has slowly been shaped with care and patience. Chickens and ducks have also moved in from the neighbouring sanctuary and are now part of daily life here :)

    This is a personal long-term project focused on maintaining and renovating the finca, caring for the land and supporting organic and more conscious ways of living. Over time, the idea is to create a space that is in harmony with nature — a place where things are built, repaired and grown with care and intention.

    There are always different practical projects around the finca. This can include mulching the garden, working with and multiplying beneficial microorganisms for the soil, repairing fences, improving the chicken coop, restoring walls and outdoor areas of the house, or helping with general maintenance and renovation projects.

    One special long-term project is an old pool ruin that is slowly being transformed into something beautiful and creative again — a space where practical skills, ideas and inspiration are very welcome.

    My background also includes yoga, therapeutic movement and bodywork, and I value a mindful and grounded lifestyle. The finca reflects this rhythm: quiet, simple, and connected to the natural environment.

    The area is perfect for people who enjoy the outdoors, hiking, surfing, nature, simple living and beautiful beaches. It’s a great place to disconnect from stress and reconnect with yourself and the environment.

    At the moment I manage the finca myself, so I really appreciate reliable people who enjoy practical projects, can take initiative and feel comfortable working independently as well as together.

    I am not running a commercial project or a busy retreat center. Instead, this is my home and a long-term ongoing process of caring for the land, improving the space and living in a more sustainable and nature-based way.

    For me, this is not just about receiving help, but about sharing a grounded and respectful way of living close to nature. 🌿

    Workawayers who stay here can experience a quieter and more nature-connected way of life on the west coast of Fuerteventura, away from mass tourism and busy routines.

    The exchange here is less about organized activities and more about sharing everyday life, practical skills, ideas and experiences in a natural and authentic way.

    Guests can learn about sustainable and conscious living, organic agriculture and gardening, working with the land, simple renovation projects and life on a solar- and wind-powered finca. Depending on interest, there may also be space to practice yoga, mindfulness and body awareness, or to explore a more grounded and slower way of living.

    There is also a close connection to animals in the area — horses, dogs, cats, ducks and chickens are part of the wider environment through the neighbouring animal rescue sanctuary, and offer a beautiful opportunity for contact and presence with animals.

    In your free time, the island offers many possibilities: surfing in nearby La Pared, hiking through volcanic landscapes, exploring quiet beaches or simply enjoying the stillness of nature and the ocean.

    At the same time, I always enjoy meeting people from different countries and backgrounds, hearing their stories and learning from the experiences, skills and perspectives they bring with them.

    For me, the most valuable part of hosting is creating meaningful human connections and sharing a respectful, grounded way of living close to nature.

    The finca is a peaceful place and closely connected to nature. You can slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy the quiet beauty between the mountains of Fuerteventura and the Atlantic Ocean.

    I appreciate hosting people who enjoy independent living, can help self-responsibly and are happy to take initiative with practical tasks around the finca. Since the finca is located in a quiet natural area, it is also very helpful if Workawayers are mobile so they can explore and enjoy the island during their free time.

    Only about 3 km away is the small village of La Pared with its beautiful surf spot and several surf schools. There is also a café and restaurant nearby where you can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the west coast.

    The exchange here is gentle and natural rather than highly social or busy. From time to time we may share a coffee or a meal, a conversation or a quiet evening together, but there is also plenty of space for privacy, rest and personal time.

    In exchange for accommodation, the help is around 3–4 hours per day, leaving enough time to discover the beaches, mountains and special atmosphere of the island.

    For me, hosting is not only about getting help — it is about creating meaningful human connections and a space where everyone can learn from one another.

    Ajuda

    I live and care for the finca mostly on my own and would truly appreciate welcoming kind and motivated people who feel inspired to support this place and its ongoing projects.

    Life on the finca is simple, close to nature and always evolving. There are many small and larger tasks depending on the season and what the land and buildings need at the time. Sometimes we work together, sometimes independently, always in a relaxed, respectful and supportive atmosphere.

    I love the idea of sharing skills, knowledge and everyday life, and learning from each other along the way. I’m happy to share my experience in yoga, therapeutic movement, bodywork and creating a peaceful, nature-connected space, while also being open to the talents, ideas and perspectives Workawayers bring with them.

    This place is especially suited for people who enjoy a quieter lifestyle, meaningful connection, hands-on projects and being surrounded by nature. More than perfect skills, I value kindness, reliability, openness and a good heart.

    Outside of helping hours, there is plenty of time to explore Fuerteventura, enjoy the ocean, rest, or simply slow down and reconnect with yourself and nature.

    The caravan “Olita” is a very special and cozy little sanctuary — a peaceful place to feel at home, relax and reconnect with nature.

    Nestled between banana trees, olive trees and other greenery, the caravan has found its place in our garden and was creatively redesigned by a carpenter and stage designer, giving it a unique artistic and welcoming atmosphere with the perfect balance of shade, wind protection and comfort.

    The wind-sheltered terrace with ocean views invites you to slow down, read, rest or simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings and sunsets. There is also a hammock on the terrace — perfect for relaxing during the day with views of the garden, the mountains and the ocean, or at night under the incredible starry sky without light pollution.

    “Olita” includes:
    * an outdoor kitchen
    * electricity
    * an outdoor shower (without hot water)
    * a compost dry toilet

    The accommodation is cozy, natural and closely connected to outdoor living — ideal for people who appreciate a peaceful lifestyle in nature rather than luxury.

    I normally do not provide meals as part of the exchange. Occasionally we may share a meal together, but I cannot guarantee this on a regular basis. That is why the help is only 3–4 hours a day, 5 days a week. You will have your own kitchen with a fridge and all basic equipment to prepare your own food. I recommend budgeting for your own groceries — there is a mini market in La Pared and local supermarkets in Costa Calma.

    During your time off, there is plenty of space to relax, explore and enjoy the unique landscape of Fuerteventura. The finca is surrounded by nature, mountains and open views towards the Atlantic Ocean — perfect for hiking, reading, resting or simply slowing down.

    Only about 3 km away you will find the small village of La Pared, with its beautiful surf spot and several surf schools. It’s a great place for surfing, walking along the coast or enjoying the sunset. There is also a relaxed café and a restaurant where you can meet other travelers or locals.

    Having your own transport is highly recommended, as public transport is limited in this area. With a car or scooter, you can easily explore different beaches, hidden spots and the diverse landscapes of the island.

    Right next to the finca there are horses and an animal rescue sanctuary, which you are welcome to visit in your free time — and if you feel like it, you can also support them voluntarily.

    My own lifestyle here is quite simple, quiet and nature-based. I value a respectful, mindful and calm atmosphere on the finca. This is not a party place, but a space to unwind, work with the land and enjoy a slower rhythm of life.

    I especially appreciate people who come with an open heart and a willingness to contribute — not only through practical help, but also by being present, respectful and grounded. There is a shared intention here to care for the land, support organic growing, and in a small way help heal the earth and give something back to nature in return.

    I appreciate clean, responsible and independent people who can organize their daily tasks and free time with ease and respect for the space.
