Descrição
Experience life in the Bavarian Alps and help us with family life and gardening.

We are an active family of five living in a mountain village in the beautiful Bavarian Alps. Our children were born in 2018, 2022 and 2025 – there’s always energy, creativity and laughter in our home!

We love the outdoors: hiking, exploring nature, swimming in alpine lakes and gardening. In summer, we grow our own organic vegetables. We also live with seven ducks and two lovely cats who are part of the family.

We both work from home and we really value support from friendly and responsible travellers. There are many ways you can help – whether it’s playing with the kids, helping with household tasks, doing garden work, or contributing your personal skills.

We speak English, French and German.
We have internet, but no TV.
We do not smoke and kindly ask that our guests don’t smoke either – indoors or outdoors.

Our eldest daughter plays the violin and we have a piano – so if you’re musical or even enjoy teaching, that’s also wonderful!

If you’d like to experience daily family life in a scenic alpine village, surrounded by nature and fresh mountain air, we would love to hear from you .

Additional Information
During autumn and winter, we are mainly looking for support with household tasks and a bit of help with the children. In spring and summer, we are happy to have an extra hand in the garden.

Childcare
Childcare in our home means simply spending some time with the children – playing a little, keeping them busy with small activities, or joining in on what they are doing. You will usually not be alone with them, as we parents are almost always around. So you don’t need to take full responsibility; it’s more about sharing moments and giving us a bit of relief in everyday life.

Yes we can. But please note that we are working at home and we do Not appreciate guests having breakfast at 10 am while we are already in the middle of the day. We prefer guests visiting us for enjoying nature! We don’t want to hinder you from taking trips and expect fewer contributions when you are traveling a lot. When you are at home, we appreciate it if you get involved while we are also working.

This was my first workaways experience where i decided to let 1 star review, even tho i had around 15 experiences, and some have been positive and some negative.
the reason are the following :
because i already had experience with workaway i took some extra steps, to be sure we both agree on the experience, experience that in the end went really… read more bad.

1) i asked nicola 3 times, during a call, on WhatsApp and workaway message what should i do, and what specifically is my job. and she said " just help a little bit in the house, like cooking or watering the plants ". every time i asked, i had the same answer. for the first week the situation was more or less okay, even tho i help much more than 25 hours a week it was not a problem but the second week i got a bit frustrated. the house need a lot of cleaning, really a lot, and they never mentioned that. so because of that i didnt cleaned a lot, but i was still doing babysitting, cooking and doing other jobs, doing my max 25 hours a week WW agreement. i remember it was the second week, saturday, when nicola complained that i " didnt clean ". when she told me that, i said " sorry but i already did what you told me, what is happening ". then she said that the other workawayers where cleaning a lot more and helping, and i literally said " im sorry but we literally have a maximum of 25 hours a week of work ", and she didnt say anything, just that the other workawayers were helping more than me.

unfortunately for that reason, we had many little arguments about many thing in the same way. all the things that we agreed upon, where completely forgotten.
for example i asked that i need a table and a chair because i do some work online. she told me that they have a table and chair. then it was not true at all. (we went into the garage to take some scraps and put them together to make a ""table"")

and unfortunately i had many case like this, for example when nicola was complaining with me that i was not spending enough time " outside ", saying that other WW were spending even full 2 days outside. but if i had to work 5 hours just one day, how i could been hiking all day ?

in the last week nicola even shout at me. for example she gave me a recipe where i had to boil some vegetables. while i was cooking, she came into the kitchen and shout at me " why are you boiling them, i didnt told you to boil them ".i then literally showed her the recipe with the instruction, and she completely didnt care about it, not even say sorry.

and the same happens with the ringworm. basically the cats have been affected with ringworm, a mushrooms that is very contiguous, where the host have been affected, and then i as well.
they went to the doctor and had a treatment, but almost didnt care about me. a sickness that requires around 2 weeks of treatment, but they just told me to stay away from the cats (even after they knew about it, the cats were running around all the house) and even after i got infected, the only thing they did it was to let me use the medicine (is a cream that need to be applied to the mushroom) for around 2 day, after that, they were keeping that medicine just in their room all the time.
and because is so contiguous, you need to clean all of your clothes, bath towel, bed sheets ecc...all the time. things that have not been done, and i was afraid by the time i had to leave, i would have carried that with me back home or with the next host family. so i told nicola to let me 2 day in quarantine where i would be eating outside, and then i will leave.( i went to the doctor and they confirmed me it takes around 2 weeks to get rid of it. so the only choice i had it was to all the products and hope for the best.) she just told me to do everything that i want to " feel safe ". i then spend the 2 days to use the treatment and clean all my clothes, bath towel ecc... and then the third day i left.
before leaving i tried to talk with her, but she was just more and more hostile.
her arguments were : that i always spending time in my room, and the other workawayers where always " outside". but again, just 5 hours a day was just the help i had to do. not counting my part time job as well.
saying that i cannot cook and that they expecting much more. but in that situation, i never mentioned that im a professional chef, but both in real life and workaway, i never had someone complaining about my dishes that i cooked. and i have to add that she never let me cook dishes that i know and i wanted to cook. not even once.
and like i mentioned before, she said that " i was not helping enough " and other workawayers where helping much more. just goes beyond what should be allowed with workaways, (which is max 25 hours/ week) and if im helping all the time, for sure i cant also be " outside all the time". so i couldnt understand her arguments.

with that being said i can understand that some " situations " may not work, but is very important that people are honest and objective about the whole experience. at least in half of the experiences i had with workaway, people were not really telling the truth about everything. but just this time it was a really bad situations, were too many things have not been honest.
which is the reason we talk so much with texting and do even videocall. because everyone wants to avoid to travel half europe and spend a lot of money, and then 2 days later go back home. and the same rules applies for both workawayers and host. but in my case i always wanted to be as honest as possible, which may be the reason i never had bad feedback even tho i had so many experiences.

i hope they can think about it and take it more seriously.
