Hello / Namaste!
My name is Prakash and I run this Senior Center with my wife, Dilkumari, my son, Anugrah, and my nephew, Bijji. Our senior center began as a small dream by my wife and I to provide for the elderly citizens in our local community who were no longer receiving the care they needed. Many times families feel too busy, or have moved to the city for jobs, and their elderly parents or grandparents are left in the village without the care they need.
We go door to door and provide whatever the seniors need, ranging from insulating and rebuilding their homes to giving them access to medical attention. We also built our center as a place for desperate senior citizens to stay where we will feed, clothe, and love on them for as long as they need. The center also serves as a community center, and we hold programs for the local elderly every Thursday to come so they can meet together and feel a part of the community.
My passion for the elderly comes from my deep passion for service and for God.
We would like to inform volunteers that while our work is based in service first, we also want to tell the community about God's love when we get the chance in a way that is not forceful or pushy. Our Thursday programs include prayer, and we are always open to telling others about God if they are willing. We want to be a service that loves first, and we believe we are called to love on these people no matter their religious beliefs.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
Our center sits in the center of the small village of Meghauli. In this rural environment, you will have lots of time with locals where you can speak and interact with them. Even when not working, the village markets and nearby farms allow you to learn much about native Tharu life. You will learn farming tactics, skills in elderly care construction, and teaching experience.
We hope that by working with us, volunteers can learn about native Nepali culture while also discovering how to give back in meaningful ways to rural communities. We believe that the skills of community building and care can be used around the world, even when you leave Nepal.Ajuda
While staying with us, volunteers have many different activities to participate in. Each day will be different, as we try to serve the community where and how they need us. Some days you can help build houses, or visit and care for the children in the slums. Other days we will work together to give educational help or supplies to children, or care for the surrounding seniors.
When we have time, we will also work on the farm and continue to build up the Senior Center. We would love to have creative and kind, passionate volunteers who would paint murals, plan exercises, and generally use their skills and interests to love on this community.
Our work ranges from individual to community-based. We want to be a service to the whole village, and that means we want to help each person as their problems arise. Sometimes projects will involve directly working with a family or individual who is suffering from specific needs, while other times we will be going door to door or to different neighborhoods to see how we can help wherever we are.Idiomas

We have a beautiful, recently built complex here in Meghauli. Volunteers will live on-site with our family and seniors in an empty room on the second floor. This room is complete with a bed, small bookshelf and a on-site private bathroom with a hot shower.
We will also provide local dishes two or three times a day to volunteers to eat alongside us. We want all volunteers to feel a part of our family and the work we do here, and we believe this is the way to show our appreciation.
(NOTE: we can provide rooms based on how many seniors are living with us at any given time. If we have many volunteers, we may provide alternative living with shared bathrooms, etc.)Algo mais...
In their time off, volunteers have many activities or sights to enjoy. Meghauli is based near the entrance to the Chitwan National Park, and volunteers can set up trips in their free time to trek in the jungle with local guides. This jungle is a proud natural beauty of Nepal, and you can see the rare one-horned rhino, tiger, bear, cheetah, deer, crocodile, many verities of birds as well as other wildlife on a jungle trek.
Meghauli village life is also easily accessible with a small walk down the main road, where you can chat with locals and enjoy rural life firsthand. Local festivals and holidays are also available, and more can be provided as you come.
The senior center also provides free WIFI which can be used on time off. Another volunteer project works on the other side of the village, and there will be many opportunities for volunteers at our center to meet with those from the eco park. The nearest city, Bharatpur, is also available by a local bus in 1 1/2 hours.Mais alguns detalhes
