  What we love most about our resort is the peaceful atmosphere and the connection to nature. Waking up to the sound of birds, seeing the mist over the paddy fields in the morning, and watching the sunset by the lake never gets old for us. Life here is simple, calm, and full of small beautiful moments that many travelers don’t usually get to experience in busy tourist areas.
  
  The local area around Tissamaharama is full of adventure and culture. From exciting safaris at Yala National Park to hidden temples, lake safaris, bird watching, village life, and local food spots there’s always something new to discover. The people here are warm and friendly, and Workawayers usually end up feeling like part of the community very quickly.
  
  Our hotel staff is like a family, and everyone works closely together to create a friendly and relaxed environment. Along with our local staff who help with housekeeping, gardening, kitchen work, guest services, and safari arrangements, we also love involving Workawayers in day-to-day life at the hotel. It’s a very team-oriented place where ideas are always welcome, and we enjoy learning from people from different cultures as much as they learn from us.
  
  Many of our guests are travellers coming for safari experiences, so there are lots of opportunities to meet interesting people from around the world. Whether it’s sharing stories by the lake, helping guests have a memorable stay, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, life here has a nice balance of relaxation, culture, and adventure.

Workawayers often spend time with our team and guests during dinners, village visits, lake trips, music nights, cooking sessions, and small gatherings around the hotel. Since many travelers from different countries stay here for safaris and cultural experiences, there are always opportunities to meet new people, share stories, and experience different cultures together.
  
  We also love introducing Workawayers to local Sri Lankan life. You’ll get to learn about our food, traditions, hospitality culture, local wildlife, and the day-to-day lifestyle in villages around Tissamaharama. We’re happy to share knowledge about tourism, guest experiences, safari culture, local sightseeing, and how hospitality works in Sri Lanka. If you’re interested, you can also learn local cooking styles, basic Sinhala words, cultural customs, and more.
  
  For us, hosting people from different countries is one of the most exciting parts of this experience. We love hearing different perspectives, learning about other cultures, and exchanging ideas and experiences with people from around the world.   As a Workawayer here, you’ll mainly be helping us create fun, memorable, and authentic experiences for our guests. Your role will be more of a social host and activity companion rather than traditional hotel work.
  
  You’ll spend time interacting with guests, helping them feel welcome, and showing them what makes this area special. This can include helping organize village tours, lake visits, sightseeing trips, cooking classes, yoga sessions, cultural activities, bird watching experiences, and other small events around the hotel. Sometimes it’s simply about sitting with guests, sharing stories, introducing them to local culture, or helping them discover hidden places nearby.
  
  Many travelers come here for safari adventures at Yala National Park, so you’ll also help guests plan activities and enjoy their overall stay in the area. If you enjoy meeting new people, being social, and creating a good atmosphere, you’ll probably love it here.
  
  We usually work together as a team, so it’s a very relaxed and collaborative environment. We love exchanging ideas, learning about different cultures, and sharing Sri Lankan traditions, food, and lifestyle with Workawayers. You’ll also have the chance to learn more about hospitality, tourism, local culture, and guest experiences while spending time in a beautiful natural setting.

  We make sure that all Workawayers have a comfortable, safe, and clean place to stay during their time with us. Couples will be provided with a private room, while solo travelers may share a room with other Workawayers in a friendly and respectful environment.
  
  Food is a big part of Sri Lankan culture, and we love sharing that experience with our guests and volunteers. We provide 3 meals per day, along with morning and afternoon tea. Most meals include authentic Sri Lankan food, and Workawayers will also have chances to experience local cooking styles and traditional dishes.
  
  Outside of helping at the hotel, there’s plenty of time to relax, explore the area, enjoy nature, meet travelers from around the world, and become part of the family experience.

  During their free time, Workawayers can explore everything that makes the south of Sri Lanka so special. There are safari trips to Yala National Park, lake safaris, bird watching, beach visits, local markets, temples, village tours, and many beautiful hidden spots around Tissamaharama. The area is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who enjoys peaceful surroundings mixed with adventure.
  
  There are buses and tuk-tuks easily available nearby, and we’re always happy to help Workawayers arrange transport or recommend places to visit on their days off. Sometimes our team also organizes small outings or activities together depending on the season and guest activities happening around the hotel.

We have reliable Starlink internet available at the property, making it easy to work online, attend meetings, or manage freelance projects while staying here. The atmosphere around the hotel is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing, perfect for people who enjoy working in calm surroundings with beautiful views of paddy fields and the lake. Many areas around the property are ideal for reading, working on a laptop, relaxing with tea, or simply enjoying the slow pace of village life. The volunteer tasks are usually flexible and social in nature, so digital nomads often find it easy to balance their online work alongside helping at the hotel.
