Hello, welcome to our profile! We are a calm family based in the middle of Berlin.
We are looking for a caring and responsible person who likes to help us in maintaining our little garden house and to practice some English with our family.
We are a family of 4: Silvian (painter of art), Chrstiane (biologist),both full-time working parents and partly home-office based. and two wonderful daughters: our older daughter, a 19-year-old who will be abroad for a couple of weeks due to traveling (planning to also to use Workaway), and our younger daughter who is going to school and lives under the condition of Down Syndrome. We are looking for someone to help out in our little garden and gardenhouse and to practise some English with our daughter s.
Our garden is about a 30 minute bike ride or public transportation ride from our flat. Since we haven’t used the small house and garden there very often last year, we would be grateful for a helping hand. The garden needs some maintenance. The little house is tiny, but in summer you can sleep there. The house will also need some maintenance and cleaning and the garden needs some pruning of the shrubs in winter and weeding and planting in spring/summer. If you like gardening and nature you are very welcome also to enjoy the garden whenever you want.
We are an open-minded family and love getting in touch with new people and learning about foreign countries. We enjoy sharing our living in a vivid and open city. We live in a vibrant and central district of Berlin, close to museums, shops, restaurants, bars, and many tourist attractions. At home we sometimes cook traditional dishes but also love international cuisine. We are not vegetarians, but if you are vegan or vegetarian, we can provide suitable food accordingly (Berlin is also called the “Mecca for vegans” :-). We provide a bicycle and can give many tips on what to discover in Berlin. We also have two friendly cats at home.
Of course we offer full food and accommodation: According to our experience we will not have every meal together, and we do not provide 3 meals a day in hotel style. The kitchen is always accessible for you and filled with food to serve yourself. A private room where our wardrobe is located (please note that we will occasionally need rarely access to the wardrobe and only on your permission). It is very important for us,that you feel at home with us and we consider your helping time not less important - therefore we will have an eye on your working hours not to exceed 5 hours a day for 5 days a week.

You will be part of your family and can learn about our culture in general and specifically you can learn somethimg about and from Down syndrome. If you are interested in arts espacially oil paintings Silvian can introduce this technique to you. You can practise German with us, and we sometimes cook traditional German dishes.

we all like to improve our English: Our older daughter is preparing vor C1 exams and our younger daughter has A1/A2 understanding and both need some practise:-) Whether you are an English native or not - English practise is always welcome
Acomodação
We are living in a flat in a central district of Berlin. You are sleeping in a separate room. However, please note that our wardrobe is in your room, and we occasionally need access to it.

Our flat is located near the Hackescher Markt and Museumsinsel in the center of Berlin. A lot of main tourist attractions are direct around the corner. You can take one of our bikes to investigate the area. We also have a little garden approx. 30 minutes away with a tiny house, where you can enjoy the garden, cook and also sleep there if you want. We have several nice lakes in Berlin and the souroundings, if you like swimming in summertimes.
