    Descrição

Greetings from the Rose Valley and the Wild Garden!
I am Iva and my homestead , which I named The Wild Garden, is located on the outskirts of a small village at the foot of the Central Balkan. It is located between the picturesque Bulgarian towns of Karlovo and Kalofer - in an area rich in both history and cultural heritage, as well as beautiful natural resources. It is about 150 km from Sofia (our capital) and 60 km from Plovdiv (our cultural capital - an ancient city with a rich history of more than 8000 years).
I share my homestead with several dogs and cats, as well as with all the wild inhabitants who have liked the place for their home or temporary refuge.
    *
The area where I live is known as the Rose Valley, as the priceless Rosa Damascena is grown here, as well as other essential oil crops. The region hides priceless treasures - we have unique natural resources (preserved natural habitats, National parks and biosphere reserves, healing mineral springs), as well as many historical places that take centuries back in time. Cultural heritage such as old crafts, unique Bulgarian folk music, preserved customs complement the richness of the area.
The village is accessible by public transport from the town of Karlovo (twice a day). From Karlovo there is transport to Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas (bus and rail).
There is a local bread bakery and few small grocery stores in the village.
    *
The Wild Garden is my life project related to sustainable lifestyle and various aspects of our existence. But most of all, I want the Wild Garden to be transformed into a space where we can practice the Art of inspiring each other, creating and living in Unity and Harmony with Nature, a point for exchanging experience, knowledge, skills, help and creative energy. Simply put, the project aims to restore that broken connection in our modern society that Man once had with Nature and Spirituality.
    *
During the summer there is a lot of work with the plants in the garden, and also in utilizing the fruits and medicinal plants that it gives or that I collect from the wild and turn into various food and medicinal products.
I experiment with different plants that until recently were unconventional for our climate.
I propagate and grow honey plants so that more beekeepers can access them.
I experiment in the field of dyeing with natural materials, and also in growing and extracting fibers from some non-traditional for Bulgaria plants.
I have a plot of land that is planned to become a permaculture farm with a food-forest.
I love to work with my hands and my heart and to create beautiful and useful things. I use mainly natural materials from nature or upcycle materials that have the potential to live their second life.
    *
You can become part of my life adventure and get to know The Wild Garden and my work, as well as the wonderful nature of Bulgaria and its cultural wealth.

I would be happy to share with you all the knowledge and experience gained over the years in various fields, for example, gardening, floristry, herbalism, regenerative agriculture, culinary challenges - making healthy bars, preserving the harvest in various ways for the winter, working with natural dyes and wool, plant fibers and anything else that life has brought me as knowledge and life experience.
And I would also be happy to learn more about your national culture.

There are many natural and historical places in the area that you can visit in your free time - we are located at the foot of the Central Balkan National Park, the Byala Reka eco-trail is nearby, as well as numerous monasteries, churches and museums within the settlements in the valley (Sopot, Karlovo, Kalofer). In Kalofer there is also the Creative Center of Kalofer lace - a craft-art, brought from Brussels as early as the 19th century. In Karlovo, you can visit the Old Karlovo Ethnographic Complex, where you can meet the masters of various traditional crafts of the region. Various cultural events are also held in the municipality - Throwing of the Epiphany cross, traditional Kuker games (Starchovden), Rose Festival, National Folklore Festival, Herb Festival, Kalofer Lace Festival, People's Assembly "Haiduta"; the Vazduharia festival. The area is also rich in healing mineral springs, herbs and mushrooms. Not far away is the town of Hisarya, known not only for its spa waters, but also for its archaeological sites. The cultural capital of Bulgaria - Plovdiv, is only 60 km away. If you are here at the right time, you can also participate in the rose picking of the world-famous Rosa Damascena, from which the expensive rose oil is made, or in the grape picking in autumn.

The mountain is only 15-20 minutes from The Wild Garden. You can walk around it, gather herbs or just enjoy its green peace, listening to the murmur of mountain streams and birdsongs.

My project turned out to be multifaceted, and I am no longer able to move it alone. That's why I need people to get involved with help in:
    - daily garden and household activities
    - creative DIY activities and small repairs
    - all the other activities that I do, space that you will find as a challenge for yourself and that ignite your curiosity and desire to experiment with me, to learn and develop. And to share what you have learned forward.
    - completing and maintaining the private online space, social media and so on
    - making photos and videos of garden activities
    - ideas and suggestions for innovations, improvements, simplification and reduction of tasks, as long as it does not contradict the principles I follow
    - anything else that you yourself think could be useful to the project
    *
No special skills or experience required, just a positive attitude, responsibility and willingness to help. The desire to learn new things and to experiment would be a bonus for both the volunteer and the project. Helping hours are flexible.
