Descrição
We are an animal shelter dedicated to taking care of the lovely and less fortunate strays of Cebu.
We currently take care of 84 dogs and almost 100 cats in two rescue centers about 15-20 minutes apart by motorbike! Some of the rescues have been with us for a long time, the dogs need walking every day and weekly bathing, grooming, etc. and are looking for forever homes.
We are always in need of help from volunteers - we have 7 staff in Cebu City mostly women and us the founders and managers are stay-in.
It's never enough hands for the many shelter chores. In return, you'll receive boundless amounts of love and cuddles from the animals.
We have two bunk beds in one room and a matress on the floor in another room both at our outpost rescue center near the city centre with currently 35 dogs and 28 cats. Our main rescue center is in the hills with 49 dogs and 68 cats.
We are small shelters but very active.
Our rescue centers got shared bathrooms with our staff and got bucket showers and cold water only.
Internet you can easily get with a local SIM card (Php 40) and a weekly subscription from Php 70 (Globe telecomm) or 99 (Smart). We do not have Wifi.
For now we need you to cook yourself but we will provide the groceries and vegetables, bread, oats, spread, pasta, rice, drinking water, coffee, etc. No meat. We got an oven and a gas stove and a refridgerator to use.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Our outpost rescue center where you will stay is near the city center with shops and a hotel with dorm in walking distance (15-20mins) in case you want to stay-out.
The main rescue center is located in a small picturesque nature area in the hills at the edge of Cebu.
Both places are accessible by public transport.
There's local places to buy food at markets and malls and places to visit in the city.
Our workers are filipinos mostly ladies and we get regularly international volunteers from all over the world, and from the Philippines.
We also receive visitors and groups specially at weekends who all love animals, so it's a great place for a good chat!Ajuda
Experience with animals / kennels / shelters is useful, but not necessary.
But in general - we need help feeding the animals, cooking and walking them, cleaning up, grooming, giving them baths and lots of love!
There are odd jobs that need to be done as well - maintenance of the property, cleaning up cobwebs, painting and repairs and anything else that can be spotted that needs doing.
We are a non-profit organization and ask half a day help from you for free stay and 3 times food a day. Usually our helpers cook a meal for lunch for everyone. For breakfast and dinner you have to see the staffs timing to cook together or prepare a meal yourself. We provide food like vegetables, pasta, bread, spread, oats, fruits, etc.
The animals need feeding and care 7 days a week and we work every day. If you like to head out for sightseeing for a day you can help a full day and take a full day off so that's not a problem.
If there are several volunteers at the time you need to coordinate with each other. If only one volunteer is available we need to cover at least 8am to 10am to help our caretaker!
We're asking the volunteers to clean the room before they depart and wash the bedsheets not to burden our staff, thanks for understanding!
There are scooter motorbikes for rent not far away if you like to have a transport.Idiomas

Guestrooms with two single beds (bunkbeds). And a single room with a matress on the floor.
The rooms are quite basic, with electric fan, remember that the dogs can be barking at night, hopefully this is okay with you!
The toilets are outside of the rooms and are shared with our staff and standard bathrooms with bucket shower and cold water only. Some dogs like our 2 paralized ones are staying indoors at night (and sometimes day).
Please be prepared to cook your own meals as our caretaker is not a chef and loaded with shelter chores thanks! Thers food provided for the meals i.e. for breakfast like oats, fruits and sliced bread and spread. I.e. vegetables, rice and pasta for dinner.
Many volunteers are vegan or vegetarian same as some of us too!
You're welcome to use the kitchen and the supplies of food and whatever is stock, help us to tell early to stock up in time. There is a kitchen with gas cooker, oven/toaster, blender, fridge, drinking water, snacks tea and coffee!Algo mais...
For our outpost we will send you a way description. It's in Happy Valley, Pablo U. Abella street, Banawa area.
For our main shelter there is a Google map point near the big Guadalupe church and the end of the jeepney lines. From there it's a 5 minutes 15 Piso mototaxi ride to the bottom of the hill and 200 Meters footwalk up. Or all the way uohill 30 Piso. We will send you a way description in time.
The mototaxi's are a great way to get around elsewhere, just make sure to barter with them for a good price!
Otherwise there are Jeepneys which will take you anywhere iin Cebu City to sightseeing points and to shopping opportunities within a few minutes. A jeepney within the city cost 12 Pisos.

I was a daytime volunteer (did not stay at organization housing) during last week of 2024. All of my activity was at the Guadalupe/mountains location. I walked dogs from 9:30am to noon, and 1-2pm with 1hr lunch break at the shelter. I walked 1-2 dogs at a time (I recommend 1 dog at a time… read more
