Hello, 👋

Welcome in our family in Moliets, the South of France.

We would like to invite a nice, friendly and independent person to help us around at home with activities, household tasks, cooking and organization.

We have 2 children ( 15 and 11), a full time job, and different sport and social activities. We live in a small village surrounded by nature, close to the beach and forest. We love being outside, doing activities, nature, creativity, friends and more.

There are all kinds of activities around, outdoor, forests, lakes, beach, ocean, surf, cycling, markets and much more ...

We are looking for a sweet person who likes kids, animals, who can help us out at home with household, grocery, cooking , organisation and activities . It's really nice if you have a driver's licence but not necessary.

This person is friendly, kind, responsible and organized. English and basic French is fine.

If you like sports, ocean, cooking, nature, animals and being outside , you will have a nice time here. We have a private room for you.

Julie is a very nice person, very indépendant person who is well organized. 😊 It was nice having her at our home. She did really well helping us with our family whenever needed.
The kids would have liked to create a closer bond with her but she had a lot of work as an independent teacher to do so not easy to combine. 🙏

I stayed with Joke and her family for 3 weeks in September 2025 and had a great time at Moliets and a good overall experience.
My task were: taking care of Lea and do home chores such as: cooking for the whole family (4ppl + me), doing laundry, cleaning, tidy up, deep cleaning (if you have time), clean the terrace, cats litter, the rabbit house,… read more etc.. During breakfast, I always had nice conversations with Eric and Lea, and then stayed alone doing my chores. I usually worked from 8am - 1pm but the days I had to take care of Lea (3 days per week) I worked from 9am-4pm. Lea is a curious and smart girl , very interested in learning English.

At the beginning, I stayed 5 nights in a caravan next to the house, which could be very hot in summer. But luckily after, I moved to an studio which is part of the house but also has its private exit, which is very cool.

The communication before my arrival was a bit limited, as Joke and Eric work a lot in summer so they did not have much time. This personally, made me feel a bit insecure and was weird for me, as I had to take care of their kids. However, once I arrived and during all my stay the communication was constant and clear.

It is important to let all Workawayers know there are two things that are not accurate in the profile: the family do not offer payment (as it is listed in the profile). And the work days are 6 or 7 days a week (and not 5 as listed) making the overall hours more than 25 per week. I recommend to discuss in advance your time off expectations and have written agreements.

Before my arrival I tried to discussed my time off but unfortunately as Joke is busy, she did not answer me. One week before my arrival, we discussed again and she told me "she invited someone to help her family with their schedules and needs" and offered me only one day off per week. She told me I could cancel the Workaway if needed , but for me it was too late, all my plans were organized, and my flights were bought. So I encourage you all to discuss the time off in advance.

After all, however, I recommend this experience very much for people like me: nature/sport lovers. The area is amazing, the beach so close, the people from the region are so friendly. For me was easy to make friends, improve my French and share good moments. The family lend you a bike and you can pedal all around, do several flat hikes, see insects and birds around. Also, they lend you a surf board and you can surf daily, which was very cool and allowed me to improve my surf skills. Sunsets are beautiful!! Being at Landes was a nice experience that I will always remember with love.

Kalle was a very nice person who we loved to have at our home. He worked in the garden and did a wonderfully job. I really appreciate what he did.
He was nice, friendly, polite, the kids liked him a lot,..... 🙏 He was a really nice surprise. He is always more then welcome at any time. We wish him all the best. 😊

J’ai travaillé dans le jardin pendant dix jours chez Joke et Eric. Grace à eux je pouvais essayer le surfing, waveskating et beaucoup d’autres choses. Lea et Fenn ont des personnalités très vivant et les deux chatons comme même. Merci pour tous!
