My name is Lucy and after being part of the Workaway community for my own travels, I’m wanting to open our family home up to people wanting to experience Ngunguru on the Tutukaka Coast. My parents, Robbie and Steph are retired teachers and have spent the last thirty years living and working in Northland. They do a lot for the natural eco system but it’s getting a bit much for two retirees so I’m heading home soon to give them a hand and get some long term systems in place.
  
  We are working to restore the bush by planting native trees and eradicating pests to support the birdlife. We have a few projects on the go including small building works and landscaping. We are passionate about sustainable living, growing organic food, music and connecting with people from all over the world.

  Mum and Dad (Robbie and Stephanie) are retired English teachers who speak a little French and Italian. They would be thrilled to support anyone wanting to improve English skills and brush up on their other languages. As a family, we love playing music, art, hiking, swimming and anything else to do with nature. We’re committed to conservation efforts, nurturing the land through sustainable practices, growing pesticide-free vegetables, and restoring local birdlife. We’ll happily show you our favourite local spots in your down time.

  Acomodação

  The property is a peaceful haven, surrounded by native bush and overlooking the estuary. The house has four bedrooms. I will be in one of them and there are three available for work-aways. Steph and Robbie reside in a separate dwelling on the land. Each room has its own bathroom and queen bed.

  Ngunguru is an ideal base for exploring the stunning Tutukaka Coast:
  * Ngunguru Estuary: A stone's throw away, this estuary offers peaceful walks, birdwatching and beautiful views of the surrounding coastline.
  * Dive Tutukaka: One of the world’s leading dive spots is just 10 minutes drive over the hill.
  *Close to Whangārei: just a 20 minute drive to the nearest city and all the amenities you’ll need.
  
  Unfortunately there is no public transport out to Ngunguru (some private shuttles) so ideally you’d have you’re own vehicle, however we can certainly accommodate pick up from Whangarei and take you to local spots when we can in your down time.
