He just started having workawayers recently and is very grateful about the whole experience ( which is not always the case, sometimes people have hosted so many people that they are getting a bit blasé, not very involved, it is not the case with John ! ).

… read more always has a lot of projects going on and lets you chose what you are more comfortable or interested in doing, which is great !
He also understands that most people are also interested in doing a workaway for the "cultural exchange" part and is happy to share his knowledge, show around and inviting you to take part of his activities ( family meetings, fiends or neighbour's coming over) which is super nice !
I was happy to ba able to meet and spend a bit of time with his sister and mom !

Elisabeth came to stay at short notice when her travel plans changed unexpectedly while her partner John was at sea. She was a very pleasant house guest and helped out with cooking, housework and garden work and even some bush work!
I was impressed with her quiet determination to conquer an overgrown flagstone path, some track clearing and even
… read more helped me with a 4wd recovery. She is also good with a pressure washer and made an old ramp to look like new.
I particularly liked her ability to impartially and pleasantly make her point when we had some different perspectives on the world.
I enjoyed our week together and recommend her highly.

Maria has the most amazing energy and organisational skills. I was super impressed that she whizzed around organising things both inside my house and outside. She is practical, determined and disciplined.
We had many wide-ranging and interesting conversations ranging from life, love, the universe, atoms and everything else! She powered through
… read more my house and organised and motivated me to tackle a big mess that had accumulated, all without the slightest judgment.
An intelligent, perceptive and independent woman, not only is she a whiz around the house she is also a fearless solo mountain bushwalker! As she said she has been told "it is not a race" ... but that's only because nobody else could keep up.
I was honoured that she visited twice, as time flew by, and also that she has stayed in touch during her epic round-the-world adventure!

Time flies when you having time they say and I stayed way longer than i expected! John is one kind, interesting, smart, easy going, full of jokes man!

He took me for trips around the Hobart and we even made it to Bruny Island- driving on the beach was exciting and super cool!
Getting excavator training and letting me even practice was amazing experience!!!

Simone was my first WorkAwayer and my experience was so good that I have had two since! He impressed me with his ability to take general instructions and use his initiative to get the task done. He is a conscientious worker and applies himself very well to all tasks. After he left I kept finding little things he had just done or fixed without

Simone did a lot of clearing and cut up a tree that had fallen across a track for me. He was able to find and in some cases fix tools without direct supervision.
We shared the cooking and I learned that he was also quite tactful especially when I cooked spaghetti bolognese Australian style. He even went back for seconds!
When he left, I felt like I was losing a friend. I thoroughly recommend him and wish him well in his travels and endeavours.

I loved staying at John's place. He's got a big proprety and there is always something to do if you like to work a bit!
John is a nice guy who likes to make a lot of jokes, it is impossible to get bored around him. He will bring you into the bush with his old Land Cruiser if you're up to (best experience of my travels until now), without following
… read more any road and destroying tress on the way.
Baster is the most funny dog i have ever seen in my life, you can play and run with her, and have her on your lap while watching a movie.
John really cares about his workawayer to have a good time and we went out for a meal twice in one week! He also doesn't like to cook but he can make a decent spaghetti bolognese (even for an italian).
If you like to learn about off-grid life, this is the place to stay!
