Where to start?
I love this man and his family, from the first moment he was super friendly and fun. He showed me his favorite places and introduced him to his friends, great people. Silvano is soooo wonderful that I just hope you get a chance to host him.
He is funny. He cracked us all up with his dry cutting sense of humor. His dead-pan comments. His incisive observations. His jokes are delivered in a wonderfully thick Italian accent that is heavily weighted by his incorrect grammar making him a gem to listen to.
Silvano
… read more is also very sensitive. He is very quick at understanding the needs of others and helping in what ever ways he can. He was always so appreciated by us. He is kind, and listens, and speaks well of everyone. He seeks out the positive good side in every situation.
So the sort of work he had to do was a mix. Common gardening. Cocktail work at a tattoo party, setting up drip irrigation systems (something he is a specialist in), helping someone move house, and his project was building a bench for the garden. And I have to say he built a beautiful hand crafted bench :)
So in exchange we did some caving (his first time and he was very good), beer drinking, snow walking in the mountains (narrowly avoiding an avalanche), and markets.
We have a big party planned for the end of July and I hope he will be back for it :)
Silvano your great!!!! And we miss you - come back soon!!!!!!!

Well.. where to start ? There's SO many things to say about Phil's place.
Although I am writing this review so many months later, it still sometimes feels like I was there yesterday :)
I remember how I arrived just two days before a big wedding party and got thrown into the whole community right away and we did the wedding decorations, got
… read more dressed up and had a crazy party and became friends already from the start :D
I am still sometimes laughing about the pictures with all the fur jackets and my cat ears :P
Phil's place is soo beautiful. I was there in April where everything started to blossom. So many flowers, he has a beautiful green garden and a lot of lovely animals, especially his sweet wolf dog Micky, who at last became good friends with my dogo Olfie :)
Although it was a bit tough love from the start. Haha :P
The people who live around the hamlet took me in as if I was already a part of their friend circle. They are all so very amazing and special in each their way <3
I felt super welcome and at Phil's place you are not just a workawayer but you become a part of the family :)
It is wonderful !!
I came to Phil's to stay for a few weeks but there is a different time dimension there and time just flies by ! So I stayed for a few months.
It's very difficult to escape once you are there. I tried, but somehow kept on coming back Haha :D
We've met some other workawayers from last year and had some really awesome time with them, dancing in Phil's kitchen haha :D
And I am also definately coming back again next year.
We went on soo many adventures together! There's was some times so many adventures that there was no time for real work. Haha :D
Sorry for being a workaholic Phil !
We did though a lot of cooking, helping organizing parties, a bit cleaning, some weeding (I totally showed those nessels who's the boss!) and Anna (the other workaway girl) and I got to build a duck house, which was really cool. I am proud of us! :D
Phil took us to so many cool places. I loved the mountain hikes (survival trip for me, each time! Haha xP), canoeing, rave partys, barbecues, beautiful lakes, ghost hunts in castles and the Brassiere Thursdays, with awesome beer and good talks, Phil's favorite ! We were NEVER borred !
Phil is such a fun and energetic person. Always in a good mood and always smiling, always welcoming people in his home and helping out where he can :)
With Phil you can always have great talks, especially about philosophy and politics. He cooked us some really nice food and made delicious drinks. YUM!
I always felt like the yellow in the egg at his place (German Sprachwort :D ).
It was so cool that he trusted us with the tasks that we had to do, although we sometimes didn't know if we did it right, (like building the duck house for example), but Phil trusted us and it worked out great :)
Phil offered me to stay in the beautiful Yurt he had in the forest and I was SO happy! I could connect with the nature and win over my fear of darkness. And omg, which memories we have in that Yurt with Ukuleke and space ships. Haha :D It was SO much fun!
And all the evenings we spend in the couch on cold days, all snuggled under blankets watching movies with Phil's amazing daughter and the other workawayers.
Soo many memories. I'll never forget those times :)
All I can say, is that it is a magical place. I would recommend anyone to go there! :D
Thank you for everything Phil. It's been amazing!

It is always so weird to write a feedback for someone that one considers a friend. Alot f what I feel is personal and private and that is testament to Anna's fantastic character that she became a friend to myself and others from our community.
During her time here she was always ready to help. Eager. Infact she felt that the work load was not
… read more even enough (yaya). From simple tasks like weeding to building a duckling run, to landscaping the yurt area (she made it beautiful), to cooking. One night we had the most fantastic Russian meal and movie. Well, the movie wasnt so great (haha) but OMG the food was good. I feel l learnt alot from Anna. About the zeal and appreciation of life. About how to preserve tomatoes in a jar Babushka style. About new forms of music.
She brought a tsunami of life into our hamlet. I mean, we are pretty lively ourselves, but her energy was special. And as much as she was flying high, Alfi, her dog, was as grounding. Yes she came with a dog and whilst we normally don't accept dogs with workaway, this dog was incredible. So gentle, playing with our cats, attentive to my aged matriach wolf dog.
With Anna, we explored alot the area, hot springs, parties, helped out in the local community, tried out the local beer, had many many laughs. She had to leave, to a rainbow gathering, but she came back. And I am sure she will pass through again one day.
During her stay she was in the yurt, which is a little far from the hamlet and I think she was very brave to adventure through the forest each night back to the yurt, with the stags and wild boar. And when she finally left, she spent time making the yurt space so beautiful. More so than when she first arrived. I can only say how much I appreciated everything she did.
That is all I can say really. She is wonderful and if she is asking to work away somewhere then you should take her.
big hugs.

I had an unbelievably amazing time at Phil’s! I can’t recommend this place enough. It is like a little bubble full of adventures, beautiful places and interesting people.
We did so much I don’t even know where to start with. From the mountain hikes, the caving (which was a lot of fun you have to try it) to beautiful days at the beach or a lake
… read more nearby. And when the weather wasn’t so good we went to some hotsprings to jump in the water there.
Apart from that we spend some time at the villages nearby and at some lovely markets during the weekends.
Not to forget all the great parties where we danced through the nights in great costumes!
Apart from the great activities, it's the deep connections to people that made my time there so special. Phil is really the perfect host, always in a good mood, kind, really funny and moreover very intelligent and open minded. You can always have some profound philosophical chats with him and learn a lot!
The same goes for all the other people I met there. Everyone is super friendly and welcomed me with open arms. I miss everyone a lot already.
As soon as you become a part of life there you don't want to leave this place anymore, which is why I stayed for over two month and not a couple of weeks like planned. :))
All in all I can say that you come as a workawayer and go as a friend.
I will come back anyway like all the other workwayers before me :D
So I'm looking forward to spend some more time at this beautiful place!!

If you are a host with the possibility of taking on Anna then I stress not to miss out on this opportunity.
Anna is the most wonderful woman. She won over all our hearts in our community. With her kindness, fun, humor, gentle nature.
The sort of jobs she had to perform here included grounds work in the fields and gardens (cutting and clearing
… read more bush). Blow torching planks. Weeding. Building a chicken run (a project she took the lead on). Then also house cleaning. And assisting for events including making deco and helping set up the sound system. And the post event strike day when everyone is exhausted.
To sum up, she could do pretty much any task I asked her - and do it with that perfect German precision that I love. She worked great with the team and on her own. With kids and without.
Then she had to hang out with all our friends and family and the larger community. That can be a job in itself. She charmed everyone. Our neighbours little girl would come round every day to ask if Anna could play with her. People are still asking me now where she has gone and when will she be back.
Anna is also incredible fun. We love to dance here and she threw herself into our spontaneous late-night dance sessions. Dressing up too in crazy costumes. At times she would be very quiet and introspective. At other times spending time with her was an adventure. She is sharply intelligent. Curious. We spent many nights in discussions over Noah Harari's ideas, or Sam Harris, or Adam Curtis documentaries, and so many other subjects.
I want to say more but I leave the rest for you to discover. She came to ours for two weeks and ended up staying for two months. That is enough time to be able to say I really got to know her. And admire her greatly.
Sadly, she says that at the end of this summer she will cease to work away. So if your a host, this is really your only chance at meeting her. Don't miss out :)Comentário

I planned to stay a few weeks and ended up staying a few months- the valley is such a peaceful and beautiful place that’s it’s not easy to leave and return to reality! Phil is a wonderful host, and makes you feel like one of the family straight away.
It is a very social area, with friends always popping in for a drink and a chat, everyone made me

At Phils I helped with the garden and the animals mostly but also enjoyed cooking and baking with Anika, Phils daughter.
There is a weekly walk you can join in the mountains to really enjoy the area with all the amazing views. We did plenty of other activities while I stayed too- visited some hot springs, a fort, a music festival in the castle, wine tasting, climbing and every Friday a few drinks in the local to catch up with friends.
I will definitely be returning - I feel like I’ve got a second home and family now in France.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I would say one of her great talents is in her awareness of her surroundings. She can see what needs doing and gets directly involved. In this way she is both a support and can lead others in a project. Fantastic!
We did all have alot of laughs this summer. So it was sad to see her leave. But we stay in touch and I am sure she will be passing through again to revisit old friends

Claudia was simply fantastic. She came at busy time for us. There were several other work away guests staying over. And when the main tasks of the day ended she would slip outside to continue with the never ending weeding of the garden beds.
But more importantly was the fun we had. She has a sharp humour. And plenty of 'nip' to keep the party spirit going. It was a pleasure to introduce her to all my friends and my life here in France. She is so easy going that it was as though she already lives here. We had alot of laughs at various parties, outdoor adventures and just snuggled on the sofa watching movies. I would be happy for any host that gets a chance to have Claudia stay :)

… read more lovely. While Phil was my proper host, I felt equally welcomed by the community as a whole, and this made for an important aspect of my stay.
Phil is an energetic person who is bubbling with life, and I was happy to have the opportunity to connect with him. It seems that he can talk about a myriad of subjets with ease, whether it be light small talk or more profound philisophical/personal ideas. We had many laughs together, and working hardly felt like work as a result. I'm very thankful to have experienced his rhythm of life alongside him, as he is someone who certainly knows how to live life.
As far as cultural exchange is concerned, I managed to pick up a bit of British lingo, and he shared plenty of local folklore. The area is quite rich in cultural history, and Phil knew some quality tidbits! He also knows a thing or two about cooking. He made sure I was very well-fed throughout my time there.
I would of course recommend Phil as a host to a prospective Workawayer. I myself would love to return in the future. Be ready for some adventure, sunshine, and a bit of dirt :)Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I feel emotional writing this review. It has been a couple of days since Saqrah has departed. In her absence there is a hole. It is not just me that feels it. Django, Anika, Alex, Jackie, Bastien, so many friends ask why she had to leave, seemingly so early. And regret not being able to make more of their goodbyes. She was in so many ways amazing.
… read more An explosion of solid dependable force. A powerful, grounded woman. She picked up the tasks with ease. Completed jobs with the same meticulous care that she applies to the rest of her life.
She took time out each day to work on-line. A modest income. Her way of remaining autonomous. Independent. Yet she still found the time to profit from our intense social lives. Happily dragged to lakes, mountians and underground, all sandwiched between the day to day jobs of our hamlet and her own work.
I am so thankful for the experience. The intensity of connection. Deep conversations. Laughs. Lots of laughs. Silly adventures packed with surprise (and wine). Saqrah became a dear friend.
I hope any future host will take the time to get to know her. You will be rewarded over and over for the experience. She is simply worth it.

Being welcomed by Phil is an experience, of course my best so far; his very open arms approach makes you feel good from the very first moment. Phil included me in his family, composed by so many lovely people, and since I stayed only for a week time, for sure I want to merge again in that beautiful space 😁. The ducks and goose family increased,

Having Andre stay with us was an experience that is larger than a feedback review can ever do justice to. He was so charming, eager, helpful, motivated. Yummy Duck and potatoes, wines and cheese.
But what really struck a chord with all of us was his incredible personality. He flooded our home with encouraging words. Kindness. Laughter. We joked and played together. He hosted us for wine and apero in his mobile home. He bonded with our extensive network of friends, so that by the end of the week everyone loved him. Andre is generous. With his time, with his feelings. His eyes sparkle with bottomless joy. He felt like a brother. A great experience for us all!

If you get a chance to host Adela then take it. She won over everyones hearts here in the valley.
But firstly, as a worker. She is great. Independent thinking, but works in a team. Fun, hardworking and will put in extra hours to get a job done. Seriously, I came home one day and She had moved and stacked a giant truck load of wood that we were

But more importantly is that she is fun. Clever. Sharp. My friends all love her and she has several homes here now.
It was great to host her. The two weeks tunred into three (Christmas), then four, then six. We did not want to let her go.

We stayed at Phil`s place for 2 weeks and it was absolutely amazing! Phil immediately welcomed us as part of the family and showed us so many places, people and recipes, that we left the hamlet with a warm heart full of memories. He always knew how to make things fun and interesting and we are so grateful for all the movie nights, the board games,

The work was chill and easy. Taking care of the garden, cleaning up the leaves - we even started to build a treehouse! But mostly we spent our working time in the kitchen, cooking delicious meals to epic music and having a great time together.
We can only recommend this place. There are not enough words to describe how welcoming, positive and caring Phil and the others are and we will definitely come back (maybe for the 4th Season of Stranger Things?)!
Thank you so much for the amazing time (& thai Curry) Phil, and yes, you are always welcome to visit us in Berlin!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

Rosa and Netha are very dear to us. From the first day they fit in well. Friendly, fun, easy to get along with, interested, keen, motivated. They take instuction well and finish jobs. And put tools away after use. And when I had my back accident, they took over the running of the house (food shopping, cooking, feeding the animals, getting fire

I would add that everyone here in the valley loved them. Whether it was going out to little local concerts or board games and food at friends, or hanging out at the brasserie, people would tell me that I had a couple of great work awayers staying.
They have left us like family and will always be welcome back here - and yes I might one day take up that offer to visit Berlin :)
With R&N gone our house seems quiet. Who are we going to share our movies and chocolate with at night now that you've gone?!!

This is an incredible family to stay with and to get to know! We were welcomed so warmly by Phil and Vanessa's family, and also by their friends and community. Everyone is fun, creative, smart, and easy going.
We stayed in Vanessa's yurt because there was another guest in the Zil. It was ideal living out in the woods where we could hear the

Work was always done communally, with many people either in the garden, in the workshop, or setting up decorations for an event. This made it fun, and we really got to know our hosts and make an impact together.
Lunch was a great occasion where everyone gathered together and ate delicious home cooked food. Aperos (an evening snack and drink) was great for winding down at the end of the day, often joined by friends or neighbors who would stop by.
On free time away from the hamlet, we explored the villages of Chalabre, with its nice bakeries and bars, and Puivert, where we hung out at the brasserie and played football by the lake. We would often run into different friends that we met through Phil and Vanessa while we were out, and it was really nice that we were also treated like friends.
We highly recommend staying here. They are good, honest and open people who care about their guests and want to include them in the fun and adventure of their lives. They were always checking in the make sure we had what we needed for food and supplies at the yurt, and they were sure to take us on an outdoor adventure before we left. This adventure was a thrilling journey into the caves of Mt Bugarach. Phil, thanks a million! See you again somedaySó é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.
